You're the alpha female of your family. Your dog is putting his complete and utter trust in you. He knows you won't let anything happen to him. If it gets too annoying, do some basic obedience training with him. My labs will follow me everywhere, but if I tell them to stay, they'll do it, although they'll watch me like a hawk until I come back.

I own a black lab and he, like your dog follows me everywhere just like yours he waits for me outside the bathroom when i take showers and crys if i don't let him in my room. Labs are loyal and i don't think they like to be alone very much either so you should feel special and maybe he has picked you as his favorate probably because you treart him good and he likes a good owner.

And your problem is what? Labs are the best family dog in the world but they still have their favorites as far as people. I have 5 labs my girl coco is joined to me at the hip, my girl blousey sticks with my wife. The others have preferences also. This is a normal thing. The dog has either allowed you dominance over him and he has claimed you as his. If you want to read up on canine dominace with people check my site burdicklabradors.com helpful hints page under trainng.

Awww! You dog loves you and feel very safe and secure around you. I have 2- 90 pound Goldens in my home with me and they do the same thing. It doesn't bother me a bit! I love their company no matter where I am.
My husband tells me when I go somewhere they both lay by the door waiting for me to come home
Just enjoy it!

As the owner of a black lab, I can say that these dogs are very loyal and love their owners.
Mine follows me around everywhere as well. Almost all of the dogs I have had followed me around- they just loved me because I treated them right!
Just feel lucky. Your pup loves ya :)

My black lab does this. I did stop most of this behavior inside the house by simply telling her NO when she did it. They are very loyal dogs and protective. When out of the fence with me she will not go more then 5 feet from and returns just by me clearing my throat.

he loves you. Are you the one who fed him, let him outside to go to the bathroom, took him for walks, gave him water etc?? Usually the person who feeds them and stuff is the one the dog likes the most. He just loves you and is showing how much of a companion he is.

Yes.. Your dog loves you and feels the need to protect and watch over you. You are probably the one who is with him the most throughout the day and you are probably the one who feeds him. Dogs are pack animals... they like living in packs and the will choose humans as a pack mate.. he has chosen you. You should try to see what happens like if your husband pretends to attack you and you scream for your dog.. see if he is going to protect you. I would also say, you have a very very good dog!!

i have a golden retriever that does the exact same things. She is definetly "my dog" but sometimes these habits do become frustrating and I just change my tone of voice and my demeanor and say --sshhh-- and she gets the hint. She is bad to paw me for attention also, and I have to do body language to get her to leave me alone like moving away and moving my arms and hands away from her and say sshhh in a serious tone.
