My boyfriend has troubles with his father?

My boyfriend's dad insults him constantly, and it upsets him cause the dad does it everyday and jokes about everythingn he does telling him what he does is wrong. Calling him stupid, social outcast. I don't know what to do I want to help my boyfriend but I don't know what to say. Can anyone help me please?

Tell him to talk to his father about it and how it makes him feel.

Also ask him to examine whether he considers it abuse. If he feels his father is verbally abusive then he needs to talk to someone about it, like a counselor at school.

As for why his father would be putting him down, people who put down others have inferiority complexes, they feel inferior, and thus have to bring the other people around them down to their level so they can feel good.

From the examples you gave, sounds like his father misses the independence and freedom that comes with youth.

Tell your boyfriend to stop being scared of his dad. Maybe you guys should stay away from his father for a while, if you do that, maybe he'll learn his lesson, and find out that he can't live without his so-called social outcast son.

Tell him he needs to stand up to his dad and tell him to stop doing that ****. There is no need for it and it makes him upset. I feel for him, a parent should never emotionally abuse their child no matter what the child does, they are there to help the child grow into a good adult and the best human being they could be. Abusing them is only gonna make matters worse.

Tell your boyfriend that some parents take their own unhappiness out on their children and it has nothing to do with him.
