Are condoms supposed to fit tight, somewhat loose, or very loose? My fiance buys regular condoms and they fit extremely tight on him. I told him to get the bigger kind, but he thinks they are supposed to fit tight like that. There is seriously no room left and condoms have broke trying to put them on. So how should a condom fit properly?

How Should A Condom Fit

When you roll a condom on to the base of the penis, pinch the top of the condom between thumb and forefinger to make sure there's some space left near the top of the condom. Reason being, that the most common reason for breakage is that upon ejaculation the semen will have nowhere to go if there isn't that reservoir tip at the top.

Condoms should be snug and if your boyfriend is comfortable with the tightness of the condom then you should probably be OK. My opinion on this question is that it is more of a problem with how he's putting it on rather than the size of the condom. Though, it would never hurt to try a larger sized condom, such as trojan magnum or durex maximum.

They are not supposed to be tight and certainly not to the point of breaking. If a condom is too tight, the resivior tip goes away and the semen can sneak out -- bad news.

Durex makes 3 sizes of condoms, try moving up to the middle one. Also, consumer reports finds that Durex is the most reliable brand of condom, followed by Lifestyles. Since switching to Durex, I've had one condom break in 4 years.

If you expect them to work, they should fit tight. Cheaper condoms break easier. Try well known brands and make sure they are latex.

If they break, then they are too small. Go to the next size. They are supposed to be snug though! He won't like one that tries to slip off.
