Because then they'd gang up on the atheists and throw 'em in the ocean? :(
Just kidding; obviously, many religious denominations are atheistic, or at least very close to atheism. The real reason people have trouble with this is because they consider what makes them different from other people--their religious beliefs--more important than what makes them the same as other people--their shared humanity. Once people put their humanity first, and their ideologies and faiths second, true peace and harmony will be possible. Until then, people will continue to be willing to degrade their own humanity, and hurt others, for the sake of their beliefs.

Because in order to reconcile, people would have to forgive and mediate to resolve past grievances and conflicts otherwise keeping them divided. This requires the faith of a Christian, the wisdom of a Buddhist, and the humble obedience to God of a Muslim. However, even the Christians are not taught to follow the prescribed mediation and healing process that reconciliation entails (see Matthew 18:15-20 and James 5:16). The best book I have read about healing from past transgressions is "Healing" by Francis MacNutt. I believe the effort in peacemaking will come from a joint effort, especially between Christians and Buddhists, so that when leaders of Eastern and Western faiths embrace and reconcile they will set an example for the rest of the world.

Notice, the similar religions fight. Judeo Christian Islam spat, it's a sibling rivalry, none of the three bother to confront buddhists because they know they don't have a leg to stand on. The three can bicker all day with each other because they believe the same thing, that gives them a topic of debate.

Ha! You're kidding, right?
Inherent in *every* religion is the idea that each particular one has some special "truth" that only they know, and nobody else does. That their particular "path to ...(heaven, enlightenment, reincarnation, virgins in heaven, etc.)" is the one and only correct path.
Once you believe that, it follows naturally that anyone who doesn't believe as you do is wrong. And besides being wrong, when they try to promote their own way as the one and only way, they're threatening YOU. So anyone who doesn't believe exactly as you do is the enemy.
That's how it's been as long as their have been superstitions beliefs in mythical, non-existant gods. And it'll continue as long as those superstitions continue. The only way to stop religious fighting? Stop religion.
Peace.

When people forsake Godly principles, destruction soon follows.
God does not tell us to "Love Our Neighbor" only if they think like us or agree with us. God says simply: Love Your Neighbor.
We are commanded to "Speak" Gods Word out of Love.
We are not commanded to force our opinions down anyones throat. Preach out of Love and let Gods Holy Spirit do the saving of souls. Our job is to "Speak" not convert.
Let everything we say and everything we do, be an example to the world of the Love we have for Christ Jesus.
God Bless You....Peace.

i think of there are 2 ranges of violence. One point is a private point. it somewhat is the place i might place people who commit drunken attack, beat their companion, abuse babies, rape, and commit each and every style of violence against others because of fact they have undesirable social qualifications and undesirable coping qualifications and that they are in simple terms somewhat valueless interior the interaction branch. the different point is the "worldwide" point. it somewhat is the place i might place extra idealistic violence like conflict, violence committed en masse (ie Sierra Leone), politically or racially inspired violence, mob rule, vigilante communities, the excellent Mao element, etc. it somewhat is extra idealistic violence that allegedly has a justification yet frequently mask those interior the 1st point who use it as an excuse to justify. on an analogous time as i think of there is alot of violence "interior the call of" faith...I truthfully do not think of faith motives violence. i think of there are some very smart and manipulative people who've used it to make others be violent (Friday the thirteenth Pope as against the Templars as an occasion) yet, back, it frequently mask those in point one. The few people who do commit because of fact of their faith in specific at the instant are not as easy because it ought to look on the exterior. there's a maximum astounding e book stated as the Lucifer Principe by potential of Howard Bloom which examines the phenomena of ways communities of persons get caught up into committing atrocities they won't have ever committed on their own. I somewhat think of that faith is USED to make people do issues yet people who're making use of it at the instant are not somewhat doing it for the religion...this is for the capacity they are in a position to get by potential of making people do what they choose. I completely have faith dissimilar the baddies interior the Islamic international are not to any extent further non secular then a hen salad sandwich yet they be attentive to a thank you to make others do their grimy artwork for them and use faith as a potential to an end. I agree that if there replaced into not faith...it would in simple terms be something else making the violence. reminds me of that healthcare expert Suess e book relating to the Sneetches.... playstation - technological know-how does artwork on proving the supernatural. examine out "the sphere" by potential of Lynne McTaggart...

It is not allowed.
No harmony.
That would be like Jesus preached.
It is against the human condition.
Not according to the nature of man.
