Just like girls, guys may feel one way when you first meet, and then the next day they may feel totally different. Many girls too don't call guys although they say they will, for this very reason. Our feelings often change, regardless of gender.
Then there are some guys, actually a very big percentage of them, who, you when they get your number, think they will call, but then they chicken out because they don't know what to say on the phone; they are afraid they would say something stupid if they would call you. They postpone calling you day after day, til it's gone so long time they consider it has passed too much time to call. You'd be surprised how many guys are this insecure and indecisive behind that hard and "I always go for what I want" surface.
Sometimes the guy doesn't call you because he just wanted to see if he could make you give him your number. Maybe he just wanted to know if he's desirable (and he had no intention to call you in the first place). It's like when a girl dresses sexy so that guys will hit on her so she can shoot them down, which she enjoys doing. Some people of both sexes are actually that immature.
Some guys (a minority of them though) have so many girls or other equally important stuff in their life that they simply don't have the time to call all the girls they get numbers to. This kind of guy got your number just in case he would get time for you some day. For example, in case all the other girls on his phone list would be busy some day except you.
Of the above four reasons, the first two ones are probably the most common. The third one is pretty common too. The last one is the least common.
And just as somebody said, the guy sometimes plain forgets, or he is playing the waiting game, or... there can be tons of other reasons as well. Too many to be worth worrying about.
My advice to you: EXCHANGE numbers with the guys! That way, you can call them if they don't call you. And don't play that waiting game; many guys play it, so they may recognize it (except the dumb ones, and those ones you don't want anyway).

For many reasons........................
1. Some think it is the thing to do, even if not interested (they are called jerks).......
2. Some ask because they had a fight with their girl and then they make-up the next day , so no phone call..........
3. Some ask then have inferior complex and think they will be rejected if they call......
4. Some plain old lose the number cause they had too much to drink.....speaking of drinking some ask during their "blackout" and the next day don't even remember anything about you, so why place himself in an embarrassing situation? Easier not to call.
There are more reasons........ but you get the idea!

1) If he doesn't call after asking for your number at a party: Some just like the thrill of the chase and lose interest after getting your number, no matter how cool they thought you were. Others wimp out, fearing they won't be able to recapture that spark you had at the party, some forget and then feel like it's too late.
2) If he doesn't call after a make-out session: Some guys freak out when they reralize getting physical has emotional effects (like one you might want more than just a hookup), so they freeze up and don't call. Others get paranoid you'll reject them.
3) If he doesn't call after you went out on a date: Sometimes it just isn't meant to be. Maybe what you were feeling wasn't what he was feeling.

Maybe he is shy, and/or thinks you are way to hot for him and is afraid you are going to turn him down. Or maybe, he told one of his friends that he got your number and that friend told him that he went out with you in the past and it wasn't good. You never know what could have happened between now and then, but don't wait by teh phone for him to call. Go out and live your life.

because if they call u when u give them ur number itll seem like they have nothing better to do then sit around and call you. its all really a big game. they wanna talk 2 u but they dont want u 2 think that they have no life. they also dont wanna scare you away

Because guys are just that way. Sometimes, they have contests to see who gets the most numbers of girls but never call.

a lot of the time the dude just asks for your phone number to seem cool for his friends, sometimes the guy is drunk, or sometimes he's trying to impress you and then forgets about you.

It's a confidence booster. They probably have gotten out of a bad relationship recently and need to get their confidence back. Emotionally they can't handle another relationship so just getting your number is good enough for them.

I like to know too! Guys is so funny. They expect us girls to wait by the phone not knowing that we have a life too. Just my opinion.
