The US government does not have the right to revoke citizenship without due process. Go read the Constitution.

The Cherokee Nation belongs to the Cherokee; if their racism truly offends you, go tell them.

I suspect it is about money. I'm thinking casinos, but don't know. We held blacks (and whites) as slaves, and they were deemed to have earned citizenship. I guess the Cherokee don't think that way.

No, we shouldn't revoke their citizenship. We have a number of groups of racists in our country. Freedom of speech and expression is ultimately more important. Regardless if we are talking about the KKK, MEChA, or, I guess, the Cherokee.

(I'm a little baffled at the vote, and am waiting for more information.)

i didn't even know that indians owned slaves until i read this story. This will open up a huge can of worms which should have been left inside.
The natives weren't such noble people after all, and their special treatment they demand should certainly be revoked, although not their citizenship.

arent they just voting to revoke tribal citizenship? that doesnt mean they arent americans anymore, so why would the u.s. gov't have a say? tribal business is just that, tribal business. if their people vote a certain way then it needs to be respected because we expect the same as a democracy. although i agree that it's pretty racist, its not our business.

You may not believe this, but Indian tribes in the U.S. don't give a rats behind about their citizenship. They are citizens of their own and soveriegn nations...they don't need the U.S.

I don't know where you get your info but the Cherokee never used "slaves". They were much like the Sioux and cherished human life until someone tried to take it from them.

i think "here to help" needs some serious help. she is telling you to hate others just based on skin color or nationality, she must be a lonely or ugly person that only knows how to lash out hate, poor little girl.
