How do you stop an egg from breaking if you can only use straws, 20 centimeters of masking tape, yarn, Popsicle sticks, and a cup. It has to be light and it's suppose to be a pad. I need something to cushion it.

This is an assignment for you to be creative. A dozen eggs costs less than $3.00. Just try things out have fun with it.

Hint the idea is for the tape, cup, popsicle sticks, etc. to absorb the energy of collision. So make sure they hit the ground first. You don't need a cushion per say, you let everything break the fall and the more energy they absorb the better. This is one of the few times you get to play, so play. Break some eggs and just try it.

Why do you want me to take your fun away?

Well from what I see, you would have to build an upside down cone. Use the materials given to create a cone the will receive the egg and expand slightly, to brake the fall of the egg. Straws are great because they are soft and pliable. Use the straws to build the inner section of the cone the rest to support the outside.Rule #1 the bottom end of the cone MUST not be totally hard. Use the yarn to make the bottom end STRETCH slightly. This will give the cone a more cushioned feel. Build it and try. then practice until the egg will not break. Use the rubber bands to support the upper must part of the cone. this will aid in making the whole cone extremely cushioned. Hope this helps. Will.

1. Tape the popscicle sticks on the four "corners" of the cup.
2. Make a pad for the egg, using the cup to catch it, but tape the popscicle sticks on the four "corners" so that as the egg falls it may absorb some of the force.
3. Place the straws in the bottom of the cup to also help absorb the force of the egg's fall.

Don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try.

make a cylinder out of the straws (2 or 3 straws thick) to put around the egg then stuff the yarn in both sides of the cylinder put it all together with the tape (i don't know what you do with the rest of the stuff)
