I recently took a 27 exposure disposable camera in for developing.
When I picked up my pictures, I only got the last 15 I took with it.
I complained to the photo lab where I had them developed and they told me my camera was labeled wrong and was only a 12 exposure. It was either that, or the first twelve pictures were all taken on the same negative because the film had jammed. I wouldn't be so upset, but the first twelve pictures were of my pets I tragically lost very close together AND that I think they were lying to me to cover up their mistake. Are these common problems with disposable cameras or was I fed a bunch of bull****?

I know someone who loves to use cameras like that and has never had a problem with losing pictures.

Look at the negatives they returned to you. They have numbers printed on the edge. If the numbers read 1 to 12 then it really was a 12 shot camera. If the numbers start at 13 or if there is a big mess on the first negatives they might be telling a lie. Look at the negatives and then bring them to the manager of the place where you bought the camera if you find it was mislabelled or jammed or to the manager of the developing place..

I commonly use disposable cameras and I have learned that it is easy to have problems when developing the pictures. I believe it was a problem with the photo lab and not your camera. I am so sorry you lost those pictures. Your best option is to buy and use a digital camera however, there are certain disposable cameras that are better than others to make sure this doesn't happen again! I found an article that helps you pick out the best disposable camera, take a look!

Hope this helps and that this doesn't happen again.

I am a photo lab manager. I have seen disposable cameras with odd numbers of frames. Also, sometimes the numbers don't start with #1. I have seen them starting with #28, go through #36, then start with #1 in the middle of the roll. This usually happens with off brand recycled cameras, I don't recall having seen this with a Kodak or Fuji.

The front of the roll, which is probably the last pictures you shot, should have a twin check on it, a little sticker with some numbers on it. If so, then that was the end of the roll. It is possible that part of the film broke off in the cannister, I have had that happen before.

There may be no way of knowing what happened for sure.

they're not as good quality as more expensive cameras. They tend to be more grainy
