Hi. I work in a bar restaurant and have 4 managers. I do my job well and to the best of my ability. The one manager just seems to take every opportunity to pick apart everything I do instead of offering costructive instructions, and even takes a few personal shots at me.
Overall, I like this job and my coworkers, so what is the best way to suck it up sand deal with this guy? thanks!

When he starts with the personal shots...simply say to him: "I'll accept anything you have to say to me if it involves my job, but I would really appreciate it if you kept your personal feelings out of it"....THAT'S probably not part of your job description".

That will hint to him that you"re getting fed up and perhaps he'll back off with the negative criticism about your work habits too. Contrary to what you would think, bullies (and he IS one) don't like open confrontation. Just make sure that when you say this to him, you keep your voice even and calm. What you're saying to him is your right, and if said "respectfully", can't be construed as "insubordination". If he wants to pursue it further, what he said to you first to warrant the comment you made to him will also have to come out, and I don't think he wants that. He has bosses too.

1: Is he the senior manager? If Yes go straight to #4.
2. If not politely tell him to keep comments on business not persons. Document time day and what is said you are starting a diary!
3: If no then quietly take it up with his boss!
A. Document comments for approximately 2 weeks. Get witnesses names, times and as close to the exact words as you can.
B. Do not be confrontational with him or his boss, start conversation with his boss along lines of "I need your feedback on my work performance!" again be calm you are asking for information.
C1. If you get negative feedback from this question document then try to amend your ways for approximately 3 to 4 more weeks continuing your diary. then check with same boss again to see if satisfactory progress has been made.
C2.If you get lots of positive feedback from the boss on first interview then ask him "why manager x is trying to create such a hostile work environment" for you. Use the exact words hostile work environment. Those are words in federal law and alerts senior boss that there is a real problem that he must deal with immediately.
D. From C2 Show the Senior manager your diary with personal attacks highlighted. There is a good chance afterwards that the Jr. manager will not speak to you again unless absolutely required in proformance of his duties.
E. If he continues personal attacks document times dates and witnesses as well as exact words as close to possible.
4.Then see a labor lawyer for next steps.

I had the very same thing going on years back. A co-worker noticed it too so we even exchanged jobs saying i did what she did and she did what I did. The boss ALWAYS put mine work down. This little test proved that the boss was an A$shole and that I could definitely do better in terms of bosses.

I do not waste my time around morons like this anymore and I was soon at a different and better job. Do not kid yourself... look for a better job NOW and bid any idiots that like you, farewell. Do not waste your time with them.

Life keeps getting better and better when you surround yourself with decent people !!!

Go above his head, you don't have to deal with his ignorance. Or kill him with kindness, never allowing him to know he is really bothering you. And when he takes personal shots at you ask him what exactly do you mean by that. Put him on the spot and make him explain himself. Good luck and God bless****

try being really really nice the manager and start asking if your doing your job right before the manager has a chance to say anything to you about it after awhile the manager should start to lay off.
