Programs like word, powerpoint, internat explorer...and so on???

Hi there.

Programs like Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are separate applications and are to be bought separately from the Operating System.

Basic doesn't include any bells or whistles (apps) that other versions carries. It probably includes calculator, a few simple games, and such. Here's a link telling what versions have and have not.

Internet Explorer is included in ALL versions of Vista.

Most likely Operating system comes with ie, media player, games etc. But Microsoft Office is a separate package.

Stay far away from vista for at least 6 months. there are a lot of compatibility problems and a few security holes that need to be addressed first.
