Registry is a very complicated area and a small error can lead to a complete operating system failure. So what i recommend is to use Tuneup utilities 2006 which is an excellent software to do one click maintenance, fix errors in registry and clean up hard drive temp files etc. I found it excellent in my use. You can go for a 30 day full version at www.tune-up.com (still after 30 days, you can use full version but you need to wait for some 180 - 400 secs, worth waiting!). Try it. Please don go for the registry cleaner softwares available in plenty in net, as it always gave me troubles.

All the best.

The windows registry is very touchy and most of the time it's a good idea to leave it alone. If you must edit your registry back up your important information, because deleting the wrong thing can leave you computer in need of a complete reinstall of windows. (It's that serious) If you must clean your registry leave it to a reputable piece of software is my best advice.

A very good and free program to clean up your registry, and more, is called "Advanced Windows Personal Care" and it's available for downloading at the below link. Download it, install it, and run it. Hope this helps.

Your question highlights the very reason why I don't bother with the registry. Unless you are a real expert it ain't a good idea to do brain surgery on your computer.

Typically those kind of programs, safely remove things that are not needed or important. I use Wincleaner, and never had a problem.
