I am allowed only limited activity presently. I have about 3+ months of this and I am bored out of my mind! I am male, 56 yrs old, married and the wife is back to work. I don't like to read and I am not the best at the Internet. I can only watch so many movies, the weather is still too crappy to get outside & I can only do certain things until I can start physical therapy.I am used to being active. Don't want to complain, still alive & grateful !Any suggestions on how to keep myself busy?

Until you get clearance from your doctor to exercise, try and find yourself a hobby that you enjoy. I know it can be a difficult process, but you will get through it. Glad you are doing well. Take care.
Buy yourself a huge model Airplane and work on it. That should keep you busy for awhile. I know you said that you don't like to read, but Stephen White authors some interesting books. I didn't read much until I read one of his. Try it, you may enjoy it. Just an idea or two to help you out. Good Luck...

I had 4 bypasses - was told I needed one - My surgeon felt once he has you open... They took a artery from my forearm. I was operated on a beating heart. Surgery (on the table) 7:45 AM - I saw my family somewhere around 1: to 3:00 PM - It was dark when I was transferred to my room and I was served dinner. I got up and walked. I was operated on Wednesday and went home Sunday. A week later on a Monday I went to work. I basically did what I was up to. Walks - going to work (white collar) food shopping with my wife - I gradually went back to weight lifting. I was told depression can happen, it did not for me - All I can say is do what you can do, find new things that interest you. Talk to friends and neighbors, continue old hobby's. Everyday you will feel dramatically better and you know what more you can do. Cooking meals, laundry, jigsaw puzzles, dabble more on the Internet. You can search out old songs that you love. You have any old furniture, silverware, picture frames, jewelry that can use a cleaning.

How can you dislike reading? Surely there must be something you're into? And where the heck are your homies at? If I just had surgery you'd be damn sure someone would be keeping me company with a game of chess or something!! Also, getting to know the internet is pretty damn easy. Go to google.com or ask. com or something and simply type in a topic of interest and viola! it pops up right at your fingertips. If you are ever sent to a website that does not interest you, just clicking the 'left arrow' at the top left corner of your browser will generally bring you back to where you were. I also suggest having a nice pop-up blocker if you are new to the internet; all the info out there in the net can be a bit overwhelming at times...

How about a craft? When my father was recovering from his bypass he took up needle work. It was very relaxing and it turned out that he was very good at it. It's important that you try to stay busy and not get depressed so try to think of something that will keep you busy. Good luck with your recovery.

Well this is a grea time to remember what you like doing as a kid. Did you love to play video games? Get a game cube or game boy and just enjoy playing games. Did you love to do puzzles? Figure out what your passion is.
