Depending on where you live, Craig's List may work for you. I'm from Austin, TX, where it is very popular. I found my last job as a part-time nanny to an infant on there. Just be sure to screen candidate's carefully, ask for references and call them, and run a background check. The site is www.craigslist.org

Good luck!

Check your local paper(online) for people looking for work in this area. You might consider a day care facility, for emergency care for a few days, as most of them offer references and you can talk to Moms right there on the day you visit. This gives you some time to look for the right person to come into your home.

Is there perhaps someone in your neighborhood who could refer you or even watch your little one?

Do you have any friends who have a great baby sitter you could collect and drop off when you return at night?

I don't think looking online is a good place to look for a sitter you never know who or what you'll encounter. Ask around your friends, family, look in your hometown newspaper.

Call your local high school and speak to the guidance counsellor. They sometimes have a listing of people who are looking to babysit, grade schools too may have a listing.

Other ideas are;library bulletin boards, churches and community centres.

You can try posting a very specific wanted ad around your neighbourhood and local grocery store. If you trust a teenager, usually that's who will answer them. My mom used to do that, and I always had great babysitters.

Search your neighborhood. Many teens and people are looking at babysitting jobs. Also, ask some friends or neighbors who have kids, who there babysitter is and ask them.
