Why do so many people get away with extreme speeding and tailgateing? I do a lot of driving for my job, and I just see this everyday, some jerk literaly 10 feet from someones bumper,( a lot of times, it's mine,) flashing headlights, and acting very unfreindly. why do these people feel they have the right to disobey the laws of the highway, and why is no one stopping them. I think this is one of the most disrespectful and dangerous activities on the roads today, and it's just getting worse all the time, I am not a snitchy person, but I really want to stop these people, is there something I can do that would actualy help stop this?

It's funny how seeing a marked squad can make someone turn into the perfect driver. Driver's tend to drive nicer when they see a cop and a cop needs to see the infraction to write the ticket. You could call the local police and tell the officer what you saw. If the officer can stop the offending car, you can be the complaining witness, go to court, and testify against the other driver. My experience is that most people don't mind complaining about other drivers, but not many want to face them in court.

Most agencies are under staffed.. Not enough officers to go around and police everything. They usually have to take the calls based on the seriousness of the infraction.Highway Patrol officers are also under staffed and can only do so much.

Ummm not enough cops? Is it even illegal to do that? I know it should be b/c its dangerous but unless its reckless or really obvious can cops do anything about it? Good question
