I’ve just been wondering. Why are Christians a common denominator in almost all conflicts? Be it in real life or on this forum. Many (not all) Christians are in the forefront to make others feel uncomfortable in their religions or atheistic lives. What is at the root of this intolerance? Does it mean that for one to be a Christian they must embrace this odd behaviour? As a Christian, what do you do to ensure that irrespective of whether people accept your faith, they feel comfortable to talk to you or listen to your argument without a fear of their integrity being bludgeoned?

I am a Christian and I try my very best to be accepting of other people's ideas. I do not put atheists or agnostic down. My beliefs do not allow for that any more than Christ judged people. Remember, he ate with the tax collector and saved the adulterous woman from being stoned. He loves everyone equally. I believe that it is my calling to try to bring an understanding of Christ and God to people so they can make their choice. That is really what it is supposed to be about. I can't force them to believe but I can hope that they will eventually believe. It is because I care that I even bother. It is a lot of trouble and I get bashed pretty hard sometimes but if even one person is saved because of it all, it will be worth it.

I don't really know how to answer this question except with this:
As for your first question, oh YES, it's worth the "trouble."

As for the rest, I'll only say this:
A close friend of mine and my husband's is Wiccan. We actually went out of town with our friend and his wife (who is agnostic) this weekend (just got back about an hour ago). Anyway, our friend (from here on out I'll call him S) and I got into a discussion about Wicca.
See, the thing is I used to BE Wiccan. So I understand the religion, and I understand S. S told me that as far as Christians go, he very much enjoys talking to me, because I don't judge him. We debate, sure, and sometimes we even argue, but it's always done in friendship. I don't bash him over the head with my Bible every time we discuss something. Just every other time. *Smile*
I explained to him that the ONLY religion I have a problem with is satanism. That's it. I don't mind having S in our house, and I don't mind my husband and I going over there. It's just not an issue.
And for one final note, my husband is agnostic. Do I WANT him to become a Christian? Oh, YES. But he has no problem whatsoever discussing religion with me.
I'm not sure if this answers your question or not, but I like to think that the attitude I have is Christian-like. I hope this is how Christians are supposed to be...not the way the world may perceive us.
In all honesty, I don't feel that I'm the exception; I'm the RULE for most Christians. The ones I discuss these things with agree with me, for the most part. The extremists may be louder, but they're still a minority.

Being an ex-atheist for 28 yrs and only a christian for 9 so far. All I see are the atheists starting crap, egging stuff on, asking the dumb questions attempting to get a rise, posting stuff to start fights, etc. Yet to see a christian start something. Even in real world they say we start all the wars. I sure don't recall history telling me that christians started the Spanish American war, the wars between the Colonies and the Native Indians, WWI, WWII, Gulf War, Iraq War, Afganistan War, Korean War, Vientam War. So where is all this "conflict" that so many say us christians cause? For is it not the atheists that scream "WAR!!"?

Excellent example of this is this past summer. A freak goes nuts in a Amish town and kills a few kids in a school. Atheists (myself included back in those days) would of taken that guy out and drug him through the streets till he was dead just to get justice. But the Amish, pure christians, did nothing more than forgive and move on, no bad words, no foul language, not even 1 stone tossed.

Basic psychology tells us that when a group blames another group for an action, that its nothing more than the mirror reflection that group sees within itself.

Meaning.....atheists stand around screaming christians do this, do that...when in reality, its the atheists who do it.

Again, remind you, I walked the atheist path for 28 yrs, I know both sides and I do know atheist side better, for I walked it longer. I also was forced to live with Mom while she got her masters in psychology so I picked up MANY things that were used against me as a child. My opinion on what I see.

I'm sure there was a goodie two shoes around Genghish Khan tell him that raping and pillage was not a good thing and bad karma would befall him and he ordered his men to get that idiot out there, and then went back to raping and pillaging.

You do know some people ACTUALLY got a hoot out of and felt the pictures taken of Soilders in Iraq humiliating prisoners was COOL.

People like this exist in the world.

You know, I'm getting tired of goodie two shoes telling me to put the toilet seat down.

Funny, NO ONE objects to the POLTICALLY CORRECT only to the RELIGIOUSLY CORRECT

Funny how NO ONE has a hostile view of PETA when PETA PROPONANTS engage in DEFACING PERSONAL PRIVATE PROPERTY BY SPRAY PAINTING FUR COATS WORN BY PEOPLE.

Vegans often insult meat eaters by tell them they can smell them because of the meat they eat.

Funny, no one takes them on!

Bigotry and prejudice is only fun when you take on a selective few.

Be nice to see the champions of the world TAKE ON EVEYRONE EQUALLY, but that's not fun.

You see, it's a GAME, it s a FOOLEY, it's not a serious relality.

It's just a hoot at someone's expense.

I tell you as a Christian something you are doing is wrong and you get all bent out of shape.

Women tell you leaving the seat up is wrong and you snap to attention and say yes ma'am.

PETA tells you it's wrong to wear coats made of rodent hair because those rodent have rights and you start wearing vinyl, because no one says vinyl has rights!

I mean what, exactly, doe the religious say that is so wrong.

It's not cool to have rampant sex.

It's not cool break up a famil with divorce.

It's not cool to work 7 days straight.

It's not cool to do drugs.

Religious tell you that smoking or drug use is not cool, that send out off on a rant.

Goverment does a commercial with egg saying This is Your Brain and then cracking it and frying it in a pan and says This is your brain and drugs and its sudden COOL.

Funny, I don't see any POT SMOKERS HERE taking on Congress, scientists.

Lot of people here drink beer and booze.

You like to take on Christians. Cool.

Now, how about taking on MADD or is it you realize, as you drove home from the BAR last night sooner than you should have, that it's NOT PC to go up against MADD and most people hear at YA will CRUCIFY YOU, but NO ONE will say a word if you attack Christains over it.

People got no Cahunnas. They take on ONE FACTION because it's cool. A fooly.

Take on PETA or MADD or the FDA and there's no fun in that. In fact a lot of people will suddenly TURN on you and call YOU EVIL!

See, hell does exists.

You catch it when you attack the WRONG group or use the WRONG PC methods.

Christianity and Islam are both seceding religions, that is they claim to replace everything that went before. As such, their early texts go to significant effort to diss all other religions and convince people to abandon them.

So Christians and Muslims who cling to literal interpretations of those texts are stuck in the political battles of their founders, despite well over a thousand years of history in between.

i in my view hate this questions, it is so narrow minded. You do understand that once upon a time, the church replaced right into a governing physique/entity. It had specific pastime and wasn't in simple terms approximately salvation of your soul. It had an Empire to strengthen, and without those wars we does no longer have a super government with one in all those mass volume of supplies, think of approximately it. If we've been countless those little cities and cities with self pastime, we does no longer be able to assisting anybody. additionally It had to uphold morality because it seen it. Sodomy is undesirable, that's grimy, do no longer faux it is not. Now think of approximately Sodomy and why the Church could decide directly to outcast anybody practising it. you have those human beings anal sexing one yet another until now they knew something approximately germs.. real? could you no longer say that's logical to anticipate. maximum folk have been ignorant peasants did no longer understand why their spouse Virgina could get an infection after intercourse in simple terms until now anal intercourse, yet they did understand that it could take place in that order. So, does no longer the prudent subject to do is tell the persons Sodomy isn't the choose of God? Hmm? Hmm do no longer you think of possibly that's why they upload the dislike for gay men too? hmm? hmm? does no longer you think of? i'm shocked you seen this question, without thinking approximately something. do no longer see the dislike, see the excuses. the worldwide replaced into never a superb place and nonetheless isn't. there's a conflict occurring real now, you notice your neighbor around the line, one in all them hates you and could harm you if that they had the possibility, thats the certainty of existence and the worldwide. Now understand the worldwide 2000 years in the past. Edit confident i found out that, why the hell do you think of I stated "spouse Virgina could get an infection after intercourse in simple terms until now anal intercourse" i'm conserving the actuality that they did!!

there are good christians and there are bad ones that push religion down peoples throats. GOOD christians (like myself) believe in God personally and dont try to pressure people (like agnostics) into believing the same thing. so the true question is, do YOU have faith in God and jesus as your personal savoir? i am tried of christian groups putting down others because they have to feel superior over everyones elses beliefs. I dont believe thats how God wanted it. so if u truly believe in God then go for it, if not thats your own personal choice. just dont let others decide for you. hope that helped in some way! :]

If it is 'worth it' to be a 'Christian' is a choice for each individual to make currently. Realize that obeying Christ, does require one to 'go up a step' from not believeing in Christ. Further, just having Christ in one's life, is not truly obeying him (James 2:19).

firstly, lol WHAT TROUBLE? Christianity is supposed to be a way of life, not an effort, Is breathing an effort to you?

Anyways, when i speak to other people about their religion, im not imposing. I just tell them what i believe and they tell me what they belive. I dont tell them that they have to follow God. I just plant the seed, God can do the rest. He doest not want us so spend our lives converting. He just wants us to show others through our actions and SOME words that we are Christian and how it is to be a Christian.

I have known a few people in my life who, i never even implied to that i want to speak about faith, who started asking me questions about my faith and religion. And i just answer their questions , God does the rest.

One of those people have become a very good friend of mine and has given her heart to Jesus. And i didn't even need to convince her, she asked me a few Q's about my faith and then she told me she wants to know more about God and Jesus, so i told her what He is like.

After a while she came to me and said that she wants what I have and we prayed together. That is the way it is supposed to be. People are supposed to come to God on their own, it is not Christians job to reel people in like fish....God is all powerful, He can do that on His own. We just need to be Christian. We just need to let our light shine and it will be eye catching to others....they will notice and seek.
