If you were sitting in my chair, I would suggest thin carmel highlights. It will be flattering to your olive skin tone. What your stylist will have to do is, foil your hair, and then apply a toner after your hair lifts. Ask for a gold based toner to be put on to achieve carmel. This way, the hilights will not be too contrasting to your very dark hair. If the salon only does cap hilight, walk right out the door. Lowlights are the opposite of hilight, they are a darker color than whatever color your hair is. Since you said your hair is black, you really can't get lowlights. Just make sure you get your hair done at a salon, its not pretty when someone tries to do it themselves when they are new to working with haircolor!! Believe me, its alot more expensive to fix a bad color job then it is just to pay the money to have it done right.!!!

I would say dark red coppery like colors. You don't want to have big blonde streaks through your hair or something like they. They should be suttle yet noticeable. Natural black hair is beautiful. You should get the highlights done by a professional. But I've had my hair dyed and highlighted many times.. So I do think something dark and coppery would be nice.

DO NOT GET YELLOW! it looks bad. Highlights are to lighten your hair and lowlights are to darken your hair. You should get like a dark brown color so it looks fresh and natural. Good luck

Low light is darker than your color, so what you need is highlight since your hair is black a as you said, you can go on red or auburn, you can also try caramel color, this will suit on your skin complexion.

my hair is dark brown and i have olive skin. i just got redish highlights. i wouldn't go blonde if you hair is black if you want it to look natural...the red is subtler. i guess it's all about the look your going for though.
