Optical illusions originate not in a place but in your head. The brain is fooled by what it thinks it sees due to its inability to decipher visual cues. Moire patterns, Ames rooms, completion...all relate to optical illusions. Op art makes use of optical illusions by re-creating in art some of the effects associated with it.
