I'm a resort rep for the summer and only taking around 40-60 kilos of stuff with me, but I thought I could take a beach bag with some vest tops/shorts etc to make room in my case for the important things (my pillow! hehe) is this allowed? I know that they were cutting down on hand luggage recently.

Btw, I'm given extra kilos as I'll be leaving the UK for six months! (60kilos if I get a flight with my company, 40 with someone else!)

40 - 60 kilos will probably be over the limit.. The max you can check in without being charged extra is somewhere in the 20 - 25 kilo range. You would be best to carry on some of the heaviest items instead of just clothes, however they don't care what is in the carry on items as long as they are not dangerous items.

Of course ure allowed to carry a hand luggage full of clothes but there is a limit of 5-8kgs , it depends on the air carrier. It also depends if ur airline carrier allows u to carry 40kg's of check-in luggages.i tink the usual weight shud be around 20-25kg's.For every kilo ure overweight in ur luggage, bear in mind u can be penalized.Prices can range from 70usd per kilo.If ure goin for a summer vacation , u wudnt need so much clothes, besides am sure werever ure goin , u can always shop! Also bear in mind, airlines now also have a guideline on how big ur hand luggage is allowed. So, best u repack, take wots important , leave the rest.U might even come back wid a heavier bag than when u left.Have a good summer vacation

Uhh, a bag won't get lighter as a result of how you pack things. You can redistribute weight in such a way that the bag might be easier to carry, but it won't effect the overall weight of a bag. Rolling clothes helps conserve space but it doesn't affect weight. If you can't remove items I'd suggest substituting items with lighter ones. In some cases having thinner lighter clothes can actually save quite a bit of weight.

Yes you can but check the weight of your hand luggage and more importantly the size as they measure the bag in some airports and weigh them in others. Stand on the scales with your bag it will give you a good indication of the weight.

I work at airport in UK and most European airlines allow 5-10kg and not to big. Must have no creams or paste over 100ml and no sharp items tweezers scissors etc. But clothes are fine. If your in the US they allow bigger hand luggage. Remember in Europe only one piece of hand luggage anywhere, that includes women's hand bag or purse

Yes you can take clothing as hand luggage provided the bag it is in is of the correct size and weight.

You can as long as the bag is not bigger than a cabin case and is not too bulky to fit in the overhead compartment. And make sure it do not look too heavy! Usual official limit for cabin bag is 7kg.
