If it is one of those keys with a chip in it the cost will probably be close to $100. The first place that a thief will look for a key is in one the the magnetized boxes under the car.

You should have had a little metal tag attached to the key holder when you bought your car that has a serial number on it for your keys. Your dealer can duplicate the key with that information.
If you have lost all of the keys to the car, I think taking that metal chip to the dealer would be cheaper than a locksmith.
If you do not have the metal chip, or threw it away as many do, get the Vin (vehicle identification number) and call your dealership. They should be able to look up the serial number of your key from the Vin.
Even though it is expensive if it has a computerized chip, I still think it will be cheaper than a locksmith. Good luck.

If you have a chip in the key that is required to start the car, then yes, you will need to go to a dealership to get new keys. They have to program the security chip.
You can get a magnetized key holder but they have a tendency to fall off because of mud, water, etc.

On most vehicles, it is possible to obtain a duplicate set of keys simply by providing them with the V.I.N. number. This will be located on the title, the passenger door, on drivers side dash, registration, or insurance paperwork. You will need to be able to verifiy that the car belongs to you, and have I.D. available. Any number of magnetic boxes are available at parts store to hide extra keys in. Choose a really sneaky spot to put it, not easily to find cause theives know about these, too, and find it handy to help them steal your car.

It is NOT true that you have to go to the dealer to get keys. You can usually go to a locksmith if it is a chip key. Also try www.streetkeys.com where you can order your keys, and they will come to you to program your keys. But if it does not have a chip, you can go to Wal-Mart,A hardware store,or anywhere they make keys.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Yes, title or other proof of ownership, depends on the type of keys, there are little magnetic boxes I think called key-savers or just carry two sets with you.

You need the year/make/model, vin number, maybe the title/registration (so that they know it's not stolen) and it shouldn't cost any more than $5. Yes there are little magnetized boxes you can get to stash away wherever you like.
