no...you cannot "spot reduce" fat...the muscles in you stomach can be tones and this might look better, but you must reduce your entire percentage of body fat to get rid of fat in your tummy...lose 5# and you will see it all over and if you do crunches you will look better...why stop at crunches...walking is good for the gludius maximus and light weight lifting will help too.

Sit ups will help make your tummy slimmer, but you will have better results if you do a variety of ab exercises.
Maybe you could do sit ups/crunches one day, and the next day do a different type of ab exercise, and the next day- another one. Then just continue the cycle consistently. You'll find out that you target a lot of different muscles and achieve better results-faster! Also you must incorporate some kind of healthy eating plan and some cardio. Check out ivillage.com for some really good ideas. Good luck!

I am in GYM class and we do 15 situps 10 push ups and then run a lap everyday around the track. I had a slim belly, but right now its hard and muscular. try that and see your results. just drink water and and do it every week. Gd luck!

Sit ups would work but any exercise would make you slimier. If you do allot of sit ups for a while you could get a 6 pac though.

yes, sit-ups and even crunches would help ya out. just as long as you keep at it and make a plan of how many you will do each day will make your stomach in better shape. it is also good to exercise other parts of your body to keep it healthy! :]

yes it will but it cant just be a week before you get into your bathing suit it'll have to be a long term thing unless your do like 1000 everyday :D but you'll have a sore stomach (muscles) if your do to many to fast but push past that and you should be fine.

yes But do not over do it. and rember that doing sit ups can harm your neck and back so if you can not do them without pain do crunches until you work your way up to them.injury to your neck and back are life long damage that can not be reversed. So make sure you are doing them right

Sit-ups as well as some cardio and a healthy diet. Sit-ups alone won't do the trick. I'm on that mission too. Good luck!
