As entertaining as that sounds, I sadly lack a fireplace. I am also not quite bored enough to go to my neighbor's and try it.
Alternative things to do - lightbulbs or whole, raw eggs in the microwave, sticky tape on the cat's paws, water balloon bombs from the balcony or running amok in the nearest sporting goods store purposely bumping into people in camoflauge and saying "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there."
All of these activities are more fun with a six pack of beer per person and a few good friends.
I will try yours the next time a group of friends get together and are bored, though! My neighbor will be so pleased!

boredom? yeah were closely aquianted!
Try this: grab a slingshot, a few hand fulls of paintballs, sit on a rooftop in a shoping district. aim for girls who look like they scream for a broken nail, and sit back and watch as your boredom melts away!
cheers!
2 points girls in high heels,
5 points girls wearing white,
1 point for every body part hit,
10 points for getting the huge guy trying to be sympathetic to his screaming girlfriend, in the testies!

Yes, but I'd be thinking about the hungry squirrels outside who could be eating it instead.
