The bung (cork) looked like hard plastic and I am wondering if the wine will keep and not turn vinegary corked this way. An open bottle here can last a month. As you can see we are not heavy drinkers lol.

It should not be a problem. Lately wine producers have been going away from "cork" corks because of the "corking" effect on wine, meaning that the cork is contaiminating the taste of the wine, thus making it funky at best and undrinkable at worst. You will continue to see an increase in the use of screw tops and plastic corks.

It'll be fine. Those synthetic corks are just as good, if not better than real corks. It's just that the wine industry right now is up in arms about them because they're not traditional. They still have the same sealing properties as a real cork, and it doesn't mean that you have a cheap bottle of wine, it's an industry trend.

Lots of wines are now switching to these due to the cork shortage. I always replace the cork anyway with a reusable vacuum sealed stopper. Your wine will maintain a much better taste and will last longer with one of these. You can get a really good one for less than $5.00.

More and more vineyards are going over to the plastic cork. It's supposed to keep wine longer and have less chance of leakage. Seems to be the future of the industry.

actually, the wine will keep, it's a new process that a lot of wine distributors are beginning to follow because cork is becoming a rare commodity. the rubber is an alternative to cork and it won't affect the wine.

supposedly they are just as good....maybe better as they probably won't let as much oxygen into the bottle as a porous cork might.....cork is in very short supply so many of the houses are now going plastic

So I was flying along on my piano when all of a sudden a balloon hit me in the face. I suddenly teleported to a desert island on a 20 foot unicycle. i rode into the ocean and then i fell off the unicycle and plunged into the depths of the earth. A pirate tried to take me but i killed him with a very large lamp that i had in my pocket. I then travelled to my boyfriends house where i stared at him like edward in twilight. his mom walked in and thought we were eating cheese which apparently in this dream was not allowed. The two of us suddenly teleported to a motor boat and we were going full speed through a group of turtles when i fell off and hit my head. When i looked up, blue blood dripping down my face, the last image was my boyfriend laughing at me. I hope we don't break up today.
