I presume that if a stroke patient is ordered Risperdol he /she is having some mental/behavioral effects from the stroke. This drug can be very effective for this. The main side effect can be weight gain. There are other drugs in this same class of drugs that can be just as effective. Geodon works well and does not have the weight gain disadvantage. And risperdol does not cause weight gain in everyone. Try it for effectiveness before you dismiss it. Remember that your goal is the better life of the patient
