I don´t agree all points with STAN S:

It has from almost all generation the minimal land use... and furthermore for one time it is even interesting to harvest the energy off-shore.

It has a high cost for the back-up since for 1MW of Wind peak power installed, you need 0,7 MW back-up and this has to be fast-responding like hydro or gas-turbines. Why ? because you will only run your wind-mills at full capacity 30% or less of the time. In turn, if you rely for your power on 20% of wind contribution, your whole system becomes instable...
Nevertheless meteorological science is so advanced that we can predict with 95% the wind power output.

The problem for the US is that there is one majore climate system, so when they run, all of them run, and when it´s still they´re all still. Europe with its several local climate systems allow a better average stable contribution of wind power than the US plains.

Then comes the problem that you need roads to install and service the windmills... not to mention that you have to install new cables for the transmissions...

Only some areas are suited for Wind-Mills and some countries are not windy enough to be suitable.

Don´t tell me it kills birds... cumulatively only 40 000 birds a year while windows at houses and cars kill over 3 million a year.

It has been argued that the electric field they create disturbs the birds during their migration.

Concerning the noise, all modern turbines have stallin which adjust the blades and avoids turbulent air flow (noisy).

It requires allot of area (1)and it has variable output based on the strength of the wind its in(2), though used in conjunction with other green energy sources it can be a really good way to generate some power. Also allot of people don't like how they look(3), I happen to think they look majestic and wise and reflect well on an area that has them. They can also never be the only source of power because something will have to pick up the slack when the wind dies down(4), but they can be used with any source other source of power, which is good. People also complain about the noise they create(5) but I've heard they fixed that problem and there much quieter then they used to be.

Noisy, Unsightly, High capital cost, difficult to maintain, Intermittent, not usable in some low lying areas, expensive cable costs to remote locations.

it has a high start up cost. also, some people don't like how they look.
