why do godd*** airlines make us lift our window screen before descending?a scientific or safety reason? i , personally pissed cos it interrupt my sleep..

Well, not all airlines do. Depending on the aircraft type and your seat. Exit rows must have the windows open. Most aircrafts don't even have shades on the exit row windows.

And it is a safety reason. Takeoff and Landing are critical times of flight were if things go wrong there's little room for error. In either case the flight attendant's job is to ensure your safety.

If the crap hits the fan you've got to be able to see outside not only for yourself but others. Example, You see fire, smoke, or a dangerous something out your window, you want to avoid exiting to that side.

But on a less serious note, better to be woken by a FA than a hard landing. :)

it's for safety reasons. in the event of an evacuation due to fire or whatever then people can see in/out because the cabin could be very dark... well, i guess you can see thru the gaping holes where the plane has snapped... and the fire would provide light... maybe they just want to piss you off after all.

they're right. coz in case sh*t happens, well then you can at least see what's outside condition like in a glance. notice the cabin lights get dimmer too.

edit: better be woken by an FA than not to wake up at all.
