When I was a kid, my siblings and I would put together a coupon booklet for my mom for her b-day. It would have coupons like "Good for one car wash," and "good for one day of no arguing between the kids." You can be creative, depending on what kinds of things your mom likes, would want, or needs help with.

Now that I'm in my 30s and my mom lives alone, she still requests coupon books from us to help her around the house and run errands for her. Of course, we'd do this for her anyway, even without a coupon :)

For many parents, the best present they can receive is an indication that their children appreciate the effort and time spent raising them. You might consider writing your mom a note that lets her know you love her.

For example, you might write about a situation where she went out of her way for you. Write about a situation that is important to you and that will be meaningful and positive for her. Be sure to provide a fair amount of detail if you remember it--place, date, who was there, what happened, what your mom did, how you felt, etc.

Remember that your memories are different than hers. You may recall many events that she has forgotten. Just reminding her of a pleasant event is a gift. To share your feelings about it in writing, so she can reread it whenever she wants, can be an extraordinary gift.

Write her a letter and tell her 44 things you love about her or that you are proud of, that she has done.

or you could tell her 44 special things you remember her doing when she was raising you.

The most important part is that it comes from the heart - don't just make stuff up - (Mom's know when you mean it) -

Be sure to sign it with love and date it.

I guarantee it would mean more to her than gold or jewelry or cars.

Write her a heart-felt letter. About things that you like about her and the things that you do together. Moms love that wayyyyyy more than a store bought gift.

Ok if you have money make her a card and say one of these days when you get better we should go to lunch or dinner thats your money for your meal and i'll pay for my own. Or get a small box and say you love her in it then shut it and wrap it and tell her it's your love to her in it and if she ever is filling down or sad she should open it and she will fill loved, write a note to her explaning.

Ummm, can you bake? How about a hand made card? If she isn't materialistic, I am sure she would appreciate a hand made card with a personal note telling her how much you appreciate her.
