i want to watch movies on my computer, can i download a program to let me do that?

my computer got a virus on it about a month ago so i had to delete EVERYTHING from it and then i just recently reinstalled windows professional.. even though i had previously had windows media.. so therefore, now i have no programs on my computer to allow me to watch any of my dvd's (movies) on anymore.. so does anyone know anywhere i can download programs to let me do so?

vlc player will play anything. and its free
