Christians do not search for the truth. They think they have found it. Anything that does not match their belief system is automatically 'the work of the devil'. Of course, this is just the fundies. Rational, intelligent religious folks of every persuasion not only have faith in their gods/goddesses but realize there is room for both scientific truth and their belief system in their lives.

Most Christians (and people) aren't interested in the "Truth"...They just want to be RIGHT.
And a lot of modern scientists give God credit for most of their discoveries...Albert Einstein and Issac Newton just to name a few.
But like most theories and ideas...If people find something that doesn't fit into the "Grand Scheme" (scientific OR religious), then instead of admitting that "They don't know", or starting over, they just tack on some amendment that doesn't make any sense.
And some scientific principles don't matter whether they're true or not in the big picture...Whether the Earth revolves around the Sun or not has little to do with Heaven and Hell.
But the "church's" hold on the world would slip if folks found out that we all came from nothing and would return to nothing...Then there would be NO reason to behave yourself or to DENY yourself anything you wanted...Or even keep your word or respect other's feelings.
But once again, the "Church's" stand against evolution has very LITTLE to do with saving souls...It's more about being RIGHT...God never called anyone to defend his word...That's why any thinking person would avoid church all together...But if I were the Devil, that's exactly the way I'd like.

Many christians have, and do today, work in Science.
Not all christians are creationists.
There's more to truth than just working out the physical laws of how the physical world works. Christianity is talking about how to get in a relationship with the Creator which will take you beyond physical death. Unfortunately you have to investigate to find out if the claims are true, most atheists don't even bother to do this. Actually the core of the New Testament message has nothing to do with the evolution/creation issue, its about Jesus offering reconciliation with God.

You're first statement describing the realtionship between Christ and Science is wrong so your question is pointless.
Regardless, I'll answer your base question. As a Christian, I am not seeking the truth, I have found the truth. And, so you wont disregard me as some "uneducated" Christian, I am college educated with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry, A Master's in Bio Chem and I am a Practicing Physician earning my MD from the University of Nebraska.
My understanding of the life sciences, my exploration, if you will of the world of science is what led me to God. Science does not in any way negate God, nor does a faith in God negate belief in science. To suggest so is simply short sighted.
In your question, you suggest that Christians should "yield" to science. My question is, why? You use evolution as your example... Do you realize that as a scientific experiment, evolution can not be recreated. Therefore you demonstrate a certain amount of faith in the process. You faith lies in the process itself to be self perpetuating, my faith lies in a devine God, guiding the process.
Christians do not need to yeild to science just as scientists do not need to yeild to Christians. The entirety of science, the laws, the functions, the order.... all of it suggests perfection... ergo not happenstance or chance. Therefore a perfect creator.
Simplified only for the purpose of a quick answer. I could go into further detail, but I'm sure it is wasted on this audience.

As much as they deny it atheists put their belief systems before scientific fact, and then accuse Christians of doing the same thing.
Without any speculation. (ie "Because the universe is so big there must be millions of other planets like earth", is speculation not scientific fact.) Or hopeful hyperbole, ("Soon we will know how to produce life" is hopeful hypebole rather than Scientific fact.) Please give the Scientific probability that life happened by chance.
Remember that there are parts of the simplest cell that are irreducible, such as the cell wall, the ability to nourish, the ability to get rid of toxins, the RNA and the DNA structures. They all had to commence at the same time. I say that the truth is that without a Creator the possibility is so remotely small that it is impossible.
You say "Not so, life began by sheer chance."
Please give me that probability without any speculation or hopeful hyperbole. Please be as accurate as possible. Will you "Doctor" the results to fit into your atheistic belief system or will you continue to rely on your atheistic doctrines.
It appears that Atheists want to find truth until the truth does not match what they believe... At that point it becomes a tooth and nail struggle to destroy the institution of truth in favor of belief and doctrine.

Their is no need to yield to Science. Science is not God. Science is the result of God. Science and God are not at war. Here are just a few quotes from Scientists who, after all their searching, studying the universe and its marvels, have come to the conclusion that there must be a designer.
Albert Einstein: "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."
Stephen Hawking (British astrophysicist): "Then we shall… be able to take part in the discussion of the question of why it is that we and the universe exist. If we find the answer to that, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason - for then we would know the mind of God."
Roger Penrose (mathematician and author): "I would say the universe has a purpose. It's not there just somehow by chance."
Wernher von Braun (Pioneer rocket engineer) "I find it as difficult to understand a scientist who does not acknowledge the presence of a superior rationality behind the existence of the universe as it is to comprehend a theologian who would deny the advances of science."
I have many more quotes. I love to collect them and read what powerful minds have to say and how they feel about God.

This is a moral question I like to call "the priest done bad," meaning if a righteous or supposedly righteous person did something immoral, would a true believer look the other way?
In theory I think one should never look the other way, but for the purposes of preserving an organization one might be inclined to do just that.
If it were a business, they would send out a written apology to the world, in a formal impersonal business manner of course, but the question would be, does the formerly righteous man have what it takes to apologize for himself to the world?

People choose religion to answer their fears about the questions we all have, where did we come from, where are we going, surely I am more important to human existence than it appears, and surely this can't be all life is. Depending on their own personal insecurities, they may either be mildly involved with the church of self denial or rabidly involved. Either way, what difference does it make? Humans have looked their spirituality since the beginning of time. What we see in our present day civilization, has no real meaning in the whole context of human evolution.

Some are, but at the end of their search faith prevails! Some are just lazy and cannot move a finger to touch truth pulse! This are the bible punchers who see everything questioning Christianity as an attack on that faith!
