Okay, I am a singer and the way I learned to stop singing through my nose was by plugging my nose while I practiced my songs. Looks and sounds funny but you do get the feel for how to do it. Good luck!

I get what you mean by singing nasally. I sing that way sometimes when I sing to the radio. I've been in chorus since 5th grade, but I didn't learn about your diaphragm until 6th grade. Take a deep breath with your mouth all the way down to your toes. You should feel a pressure or "expansion" near your lower abdomen. This is good; it's what's supposed to happen.

Start your air so that the sound floats on this stream of air. (Basically it means to start your air before you start singing, but don't waste too much air before you start singing.) When you start singing, focus that sound over and above your head. This lets the sound resonante in your sinuses not your nose, where you want it to be.

Make sure that every time you breathe after that first note, breathe down to your toes (or close to there if you need to breath quickly) and sing over and above your head. If you feel a sort of resonant feeling in your head (like in an echo room and the sound just bounces from wall to wall), than you are being very resonant in the right place.

Relax! That's also a major key into a good audition. I just had an audition for a solo part last monday. I had a good audition because of everything I learned about singing. Some advice: if you get really nervous about singing in front of people, just imagine that you're singing in rehersal or your room or in front of your friends. Whatever you do, don't imagine people in their underwear. It doesn't work. Sing like you do in rehersal; amazing!!

Lay down flat on your back and breathe very deeply. Your 'stomach' (diaphragm) will expand and fill out. This is the muscle that you need to control to support your singing. Keep focusing on this until you can stand and still use the same muscles to breathe. When you sing you need to feel 'tension' in your abdomen from that support. Squeezing your bottom together helps you keep that support as well. Good luck with your audition!

all of the previous answers are good, especially helping you to find your breath support muscles. I can only add, when this audtion is over, why don't you go and find a singing teacher who help you much more efficiently than any of us can through the computer? Okay, it costs more, but you get one on one attention, and learn a lot more quickly. Good singing doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and patience.
Good luck

You could hold your breath and force air to your stomach and feel your abdomen. Then you can try singing in an upright position and feel if your abdomen vibrates. You have to try to use your diaphragahm. Using your nose makes your voice sound like a duck.

When I was talking singing lessons, my instructor told me to lie on the floor with a large book on my abdomen and try to lift the book by breathing in using my diaphragm. That would not only strengthen my diaphragm but get me used to breathing with my diaphragm.

Sing from your diaphram. That's when you sing and tighten you stomach. Only breath from your mouth and then you won't have to worry about singing through your nose.
