were u ever not so close with a person whom u already knew, but then built a closer relationship via the internet, like myspace or what not?
i'm talking mostly relatives though...

I have.
My cousin and I had only met once and after I made a family site on a web site we have been a lot closer. We never knew each other growing up as we live across the country from each other. The Internet can be great for this type of thing pic exchanges, scanning copies of your children's art work for them to see etc. Also a lot cheaper than a long distance bill. I have other relatives who post family pics on line so you can see their children grow.

I've met alot of folks I never would've met (some I wished I hadn't) And I've also had the oppurtunity to resolve conflicts with siblings by way of a simply typed goodbye, (rather than putting heads through drywall, breaking bones, creating chaos and saying a whole lot of words that kids should never learn in the first place.) The internet is a great informative resource. Too many people use it to "outsource" when they run out of people to manipulate and emotionally abuse in their immediate surroundings. Point, Click, Stalk, Harrass, Lie.

My husband keeps in touch with his mother by the Internet. They go on yahoo messenger and play pool. They can also talk like they were in the same room. She is lonely and I think it has helped her a lot. Also we kept in touch through the messenger with his cousin. They talked all the time on it. I would walk in the kitchen and he would call out hi to me. It felt like he was in the room. We lived 500 miles apart. He died last year and we miss him like crazy.
So yes, my hubby has gotten closer to his mom via the Internet.
