Yes, indeed! They are amazing little dogs! did you know that they are an original dog? Just like the wolves and coyotes? They aren't a man-made breed, but are known to be at least 135,000 years old..

The Basenji is a small/medium sized breed of hunting dog that originated in central Africa. It is considered by some, particularly in North America, to be a member of the sighthound family; most kennel clubs, including the American Kennel Club and the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom classify it as a hound. Due to its unusually shaped larynx, Basenji's can't "bark," they produce a higher-pitched, yodel-like sound. Basenjis are small, elegant-looking, short-haired dogs with erect ears, a tightly curled tail, and wrinkly foreheads, especially when young. They are very athletic dogs, and usually weigh between 20-30 pounds.

Basenjis are such an interesting breed! Cute little hounds, aren't they? The first specimens of them were given as presents to pharoahs of Egypt, and they've long been prized for their intelligence, skill in hunting, speed, and above all, their silence. They're known as the "barkless dog", which is true, but don't let that deceive you! These little buggers love to yodel. Another interesting bit about Basenjis are their self-grooming habits. Much like cats, Basenjis often lick themselves clean (like a cat) and lack a distinct "doggy odor", which is a perk! Lovely little dogs ... and quite funny to watch in action.
Great question!

Basenjis are barkless, but not noiseless dogs that originated in Africa. They are sight hounds, they hunt by spotting the game. Hunters would sling the basenji around their necks and walk out to the game. They would release the dog to run the game down to the hunter.

They are energetic and very intelligent and curious dogs. Very clean and catlike. They are considered to be tamed, but not truly domesticated due to the frequency of their heat cycles.

Wonderful dogs!

They are an african breed of dog. Ancient hunting and villiage dogs, they are gorgeous animals. They dont bark like a normal dog and like to do something people call yodeling. They are very active and intelligent they sometimes are known to groom themselves simular to a cat. They are very good companions and gaurd dogs, but can be stubborn and hard to handle if you dont train them properly. They are like a sight hound in attitude and personality. I have a friend with 4 of them and she shows and breeds them. They come in red and white, black and white, brindle and white. There might be more colors but I think these are what the standard recognizes.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Basenji's were village dogs that were domesticated from a type of wild dog, and used for hunting, but mainly a meat source for village cooking pots. They were then further developed for hunting small game and large game, and also give to pharohs as gifts as someone was mentioning above. UGG Basenji's dont bark in the TRADITIONAL sense of the word Barking, but believe me they make NOISE. They make a Chortling, yodeling, high pitched HORRIBLE screaming sound.. and can be nosier and more vocal than other breeds of dogs. People that choose these dogs are usually suprised by there high amounts of vocalness and are dissappointed that they sound like choking mad women.

Yes, growing up we had a dog whose father was a basenji and the mother was a manchester terrier. He was an awesome dog. Lived to be 17!

I never met anyone who owns a Basenji! That's so cool. I heard they don't bark. I was thinking of getting one, but I decided to wait until I buy a house so I have enough room for one. Kudo's for owning a cool dog :]

Beautiful dogs and not many people have them. I almost bought one but decided on a Frenchie instead.
