I don't drink during the day but enjoy a few glasses at home on my own. I sometimes don't drink at all for a couple of days, but I miss 'chilling out' with a glass....

If you aren't an alcoholic, you are headed in that direction. One or two servings of wine a day is supposed to be good for you, but anything more defeats the good.

I would say you need to watch it. If you drink every day for too long you can get pretty well habituated to the stuff.

Also, as a warning, if you drink a lot (I would GUESS more than you do) there can be dangers in suddenly stopping drinking - you can get brain damage!

Having said the above, it is probably a good idea to try to have two or three days each week when you don't drink at all.

You might also want to try going for a month or two months without drinking at all, just to see if you can. You will be amazed how much spare time you have in the evenings!

Don't want to worry you but to be honest it is something worth keeping an eye on. Booze is a plesure - let's hope you keep it like that....

No you're not an alcoholic. I might be, given that drink around a bottle every day.
Thing is, half a bottle really isn't that much. It's a couple of glasses for heaven's sake.
However, dependency isn't necesarily about quantity. If you feel uncomfortable about how you feel with regards to drink, then talk to someone. But I personally wouldn't worry. Enjoy it - wine is good for you in moderate quantities after all.

It is only a problem if it is starting to affect your health, relationships, or if it causes you problems at home or work. A half a bottle of wine is only about two glasses. In many cultures this is considered to be the norm. There are some health benefits to drinking a small amount of wine each day. If, however, your drinking is making you feel uncomfortable - you might consider cutting back to social occasions only. It really depends on how you feel it affects your life.

If you put yourself to the test and skip a couple of days with NO drinks in your systema dn you do just fine and don't feel any side effects or have any temper tantrums that the answer is NO, you are not an alcoholic because you can walk away with no problems, but if you cannot survive without having that drink at night then YES, you are a FUNCTIONING alcoholic.

Half a bottle of wine is only three glasses. I don´t think that is excessive, especially if drunk on a full stomach. Wine is not a bad drink - drinking something like three alcopops would be worse with all the sugar and chemicals they contain. Don´t worry about missing it if you go without - you´re bound to miss something you enjoy. Continue!

An alcoholic is someone who lets alcohol interfier with their daily life. If you find yourself driving drunk, going to work or school drunk, having a drink to start your day, buying alcohol instead of groceries, things of that nature.
a few drinks in the evening is nothing to feel bad about, as long as you know when it's appropriate to drink, and when it's not your doing fine.

You are not. But may become one, some day.
Since u have Questioned yourself. It is a good step to control.
Reduce it. Don't buy that bottle. Best to get out of the house those hours and seek friends. Do exercises that time too.
All the best.

That's really not alot of alcohol, but it's only a problem if you feel like you really "need" the wine every night. If you can do without it, then it's really not a problem.

When people think of alcoholics think of the low-bottom, skid row alcoholics. That's not always the case. There are many, if not more, high-bottom, functioning alcoholics.
I'm not saying you are a alcoholic but if you think you might have a problem then you might be right.
