your friend brought you one flea? I doubt it, but one flea mean millions of fleas... best to call the vet, you cant treat fleas on puppies that young, with over the counter flea meds. Vets will treat them if your puppies and mom are infested and are in fear of becoming anemic (blood loss). Keep them clean as possible. Call you vet about it, see what he suggests.

Fleas on pups that young is a cause for great worry. Fleas suck the blood of new pups and they don't have alot to spare. Try to hand pick the fleas off if you can and Don't let anyone bring their dogs over anymore. If the infestation get very bad it can be life treating tot the pups. Nip it in the bud now before it gets out of hand.
Change the pups bedding often and keep an eagle eye on the pups. They are too young for any flea shampoo's or spray's. You can also check with yoru vet as to what can be placed on the mom because she going to get the fleas too.
Now that their eyes are open they really won't see until a week to 10 days from now so just leave them be. They will start to get mobile soon so be prepared to keep them in one spot. I used baby gates and some use a big wooden box with higher walls to keep the pup confined. You could get a big enough crate or the pups and mom. Once they start to move about it a free for all if you don't get them confined to one area. This is the fun stage, but alot of work !

Get those fleas under control that should be your main concern right now OK.

He will start getting more active and he will start walking alittle although shakey legged. You cannot put any flea control on puppies your best bet would be to buy a flea comb and comb through his hair, his siblings, and Momma's. Their bedding should be changed and washed everyday to help control the flea situation. I've heard that a little apple cider vinegar mixed with water helps to repel fleas and it will not harm puppies although he will smell like a salad. Fleas can be very bad for dogs and puppies causing worms and other health issues. You must try to control the infestation without using harsh flea products. Vacuuming often and emptying the bag outside will help control the fleas also. It is very important to stay on top of the fleas until the puppies are old enough to be treated for the fleas with frontline or canine advantix.

How does a friend bring one flea lol. If you have one flea running around there all you need to do is get it and kill it lol@ my friend brought it over. Anyway. I don't let anyone touch my puppies until they have their first shots. I don't let strangers see them until they are six weeks old.

What you do now is to make sure things are going all right, that they are gaining weight ok. You can get puppy wipes and wipe them off every day. Soon you can soak some puppy food with water.. or mixed up in a blender. But if everything is going good just let mommy take care of them. At six weeks have them check at the Vet. Start them on their puppy shots and worming. Let them suck on mommy until she weans them the more they suck the better her nipples will go back into shape. Don't worry she will take care of weaning them..They will be getting their baby teeth soon. Talk softly to them, hold them, be careful of them being in bright light for a while.

Fleas on a young pup can cause anemia..... Most flea medications (Oral, shampoo, etc...) Cannot be used on puppies under 12 weeks or pregnant or lactating dogs... however, there is one over the counter shampoo that can be used on both... it is called DE FLEA, and can be picked up @ your local pet supply store, such as pet smart, just be sure to treat all puppies, and the mother as well.

They start to nurse easier because they can take in light and will start to actually focus as time goes on. At 3-4 weeks you will start to wean them so they are not only nursing. At 3-4 weeks they can have cow's milk. You can add cooked egg yokes, baby rice cereal, etc. Between 4-5 weeks a small amount of chicken, all this can be ground in a blender or grinder to make a nice consistency. Between 5-6 weeks you can start adding kibble to the mix so that at 8 weeks they are slightly accustomed to kibble. Unless you are feeding something else to your adult(s).

Flea on young puppy. Sulfa products like a sulfa shampoo or dip, wash off, do not leave a poisonous residue when thoroughly rinsed, and are a quick killer for fleas. So make sure you use no poisons around the puppies and use a sulfa shampoo or dip and then a gentle shampoo to wash it off. It only needs to be there a moment to kill the fleas. Also try and get rid of any flea eggs etc. so you don' get more, and fleas cause tape worms you will have to watch for those now. Remember no poisonous flea products around young puppies, the Sulfa will work
