you can buy shelving at any hardwear store that is fairly easy to install. You could put a shelf going around her room up high , big enough to put her tallest trophies on but up out of the way so it doesn't make her room smaller or get in the way.
Or you could use shelving at differet levels along the walls to make in more interesting.
My parrents let me design my room when I was 12 me and my sister got seperate rooms for the first time and we were both allowed to decide what went in them. I was always a huge art fan so they let me paint the whole room white and draw and paint what ever I wanted on the walls. By the time I moved out when I was 19 the room was literaly a huge collage, and they've kept it that way now that I've moved out. The best thing to do is ask your daugter's opinions on wall color and things. She'll love getting to have a say in the whole process.

I like the idea of the shelving all around, but high so that the whole wall doesn't end up looking super busy. Then, you could let her choose the wall color... and on one wall, do the black magnetic chalkboard paint. On that wall, she can write fun things, use magnets to hang posters and pics of friends, etc. For other storage, I am a big proponent of under-bed drawers or plastic bins with wheels... since that is an unused space that is easily tapped for storage. Ikea is a great place for teen furniture, because it is small scale, clean lines, and inexpensive (but durable, in my experience).

At the age of 12 he or she already has their mind on what they want. Any mistakes on your part may be disastrous. Just advise on the child's ideas. They usually have the best imaginations.
