It all started this morning, my Aunt called and told my mom that he was throwing up blood, and she told my mom to come pick him up and take him to the hospital. What do you think could have caused this?

If he has not been taken to hospital yet, call 911 and get him to the emergency room immediately.
It could be any one of multiple disorders and only a doctor can diagnose what is going on. It could be a bleeding ulcer (most likely), he could have an aneurysm, if he's a big drinker it could be esophageal varices... There are too many things that might cause it.
The focus here is 1) getting him medical help immediately and 2) staying calm and reassuring until you know what it is you are dealing with.
If you are an adult, you might consider donating blood as he may need a transfusion.
If you are a kid, you may consider staying home (or at Auntie's house if that is where Grandpa lives) and taking care of communications. This means that you get a pad of paper, and as people call, take messages, give information on what is going on in a calm manner and helping everyone stay positive and focused.
For instance, as his friends call, you can say "He's still being evaluated, they are running tests, if you leave your number, we can call you and let you know when he's in a room and if and when he can have visitors."
When my niece was in hospital we had to let people know not to visit (only immediate family allowed), not to send flowers (allergic), and that we already had six lasagna casseroles.
By taking messages, you can make sure if you DO Need help (Grandma needs a ride? Call the cousin who wants to help in any way!) you can hook up assistance with the most able person to provide it. Also, people won't be able to tie up your phone (which you need for calls from the hospital) if you keep your calls short, sweet, full of accurate information, and polite.
This is a very important function you can provide if you cannot be at the hospital providing emotional support. And everyone will appreciate it.

Could be any number of things from eating (by accident) a sharp bone or, more likely an ulcer. If the blood was bright red, the bone theory is likely, if the blood was dark, the latter theory is valid. Anyhow, you got him to the Hospital, that was the safest plan and he will be looked after there. I hope he recovers soon.

Did she take him? I hope so, this can be very serious. I am a healthcare provider and if I got him in the ER I would be concerned about the amount of blood loss first. There are a few things which can cause vomiting of blood....certain medications (especially ones for arthritis, or blood clotting preventative meds), a history of alcoholism or liver problems, stomach ulcers, or even cancer. They will run alot of tests on him and in the ER he is in the best place to be cared for in this emergency situation. God Bless you and your family.

Let the hospital staff see to him - ask the hospital staff the cause.

He is having a bleed into his stomach. This is very serious. Why is he not in hospital already? Dial 999.
