My dog used to do this and eat his own while it was still steaming YUK it seems he grew out of it. My dog was one of those knuckle headed puppies who is so so lucky that he still has a home with us after he ate the entire house besides for his own poop. I think that it is behavorial. You can buy stuff to put in your other dogs food that makes eating his poop undesirable this may help to break the habit.

Well, one way of curing this is to take some cayenne pepper with you on your walks or wherever you take your dog to relieve him/herself. Put a nice helping of the pepper on the poop. Let your dog eat a good dose of the pepper-laced poop. After 1-3 episodes of that, I can pretty much guarantee it won't happen again. My one pug, who came from a pet store (yes, he was my first and I know better now) was a poop eater. After 1-2 doses of cayenne poop, he stopped. It was quite nasty to let him eat the poop but he stopped and now does nothing more than occasionally try to lick my female pug's pee off the grass (gratuitous eye roll).

Good luck!

Tammy

If your dog is eating another animals crap usually it means that the animal is lacking something like not getting enough of something like vitamins they need maybe your food you have doesn't have the things he/she needs try another food and see what happens. Good luck to you.

apparently there is still alot of protein in it that they can detect also if the other dog was giving a strong scent out to the neighbouring dogs he will do it to get rid of the rivals marking just like when they pee over each others pee to rid it
