Dogs learn a multitude of names. Many dog has their name and several nick names. They learn them all. Yes, you can switch her from English to Spanish. My dog lived with Mexicans for his first two years before they abandoned him. He knew Spanish but adapted to English very quickly. He now will obey commands in either langue. We changed his name. He knows his old name, new name and several nick names.

Most dogs can understand about 150 words. Some of the more intelligent breeds (German Shepherds, Poodles) can understand more than 200.
Most of the responders are correct in that you should stick with the initial language for obedience training. For instance, police dogs trained in Germany with a German speaking trainer are not accepted for use by U. S. agencies UNLESS the chosen handler speaks German.
The key to training a dog is repetition and reward.

Stick to one name. Call her name frequently and get her use to her new name. Lay off the nick names for a while until she gets use to hearing her real name. Also as far as the commands you will probably have to teach her them all over again if you are switching languages. She doesnt know the translation for sit in spanish. Shes not that smart! lol

Yes if you vary her names too much she will get comfused in the command words (sit stay ect.) and what you call/name her. We had lots of variations of the name Wendel for our dauschund for example like: wendoosh, wendleek, wendy, and wendle which all sound pretty cute but still similar to the dog responded to everything because they all were similar.
