I am dating this guy, he rides a motorcycle and works in a garage. My mom hates him, but I know if she got to know him she would like him because he is really nice and sweet. My dad likes him, it is just my mom who doesn't. What should I do?

Give it time. If your mother recognizes that this relationship is lasting for awhile and sees you enjoy it, she will start to like him. She wants what's best for you, so in time, if she sees you happy STILL, she will like him on account of it. Don't worry so much or try to force it. Just reassure her he's okay. Don't reassure her that you're happy, show her. Just be patient.

What i think your mom hate is the motocycle and the fact that he works in a garage. Tell him to stop seeing you with the motocycle and hire a car, he should also wear suit. I guess your mom will think he has gotten another job and you will be surprise by the reception.

BE CAREFUL. Your mom may say she hates and can't stand him, but secretly she might be totally turned on by him because he's such a "bad boy" (working in a garage, rides a motorcycle). Ask your mom WHY she doesn't like him? See what kind of an excuse she gives you.

Have them talk more, and tell your mom to quit giving the negative side the attention, and to understand that you really like this guy and that she cant crush this and make you 2 unhappy.

I guess you could try to talk to her. She isn't trying to ruin your life. She wants so much for you. She wants you to have one of those boyfriends that is clean cut, nice guy, successful, that kind of thing. She wants you to do good in this life. She is afraid of you falling for the wrong guy. She thinks you deserve the best!

parents have a internal radar system that is always "on". it is a very accurate system.
sounds like a crazy answer ...... but just quite possibly .... even though you really like the guy ....... you just might want to proceed with caution ......

bring him around more often, for lunch or dinner... take ur parents out to eat.... it will take time for ur mom to warm up to him.... I know how moms are they think no one is good enough for their little girl... so all I gotta say is time.... and if he is the great person u think he is.... time is all u need.

If you think she will like him once she gets to know him, then let her get to know him. The three of you should have dinner together or something so she can get to know him.
