The Holy Spirit is the spirit of our Lord. It is a part of God that is with us always. Jesus referred to the spirit as The Comforter. The Holy Spirit provides us with the wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, reverence and the deity of Our Lord as was prophesied by Isaiah.
May God Bless you.

What is the holy spirit?
A comparison of Bible texts that refer to the holy spirit shows that it is spoken of as ‘filling’ people; they can be ‘baptized’ with it; and they can be “anointed” with it. (Luke 1:41; Matt. 3:11; Acts 10:38) None of these expressions would be appropriate if the holy spirit were a person.
Jesus also referred to the holy spirit as a “helper” (Greek, pa‧ra′kle‧tos), and he said that this helper would “teach,” “bear witness,” “speak,” and ‘hear.’ (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:13) It is not unusual in the Scriptures for something to be personified. For example, wisdom is said to have “children.” (Luke 7:35) Sin and death are spoken of as being kings. (Rom. 5:14, 21) While some texts say that the spirit “spoke,” other passages make clear that this was done through angels or humans. (Acts 4:24, 25; 28:25; Matt. 10:19, 20; compare Acts 20:23 with 21:10, 11.) At 1 John 5:6-8, not only the spirit but also “the water and the blood” are said to ‘bear witness.’ So, none of the expressions found in these texts in themselves prove that the holy spirit is a person.
The correct identification of the holy spirit must fit all the scriptures that refer to that spirit. With this viewpoint, it is logical to conclude that the holy spirit is the active force of God. It is not a person but is a powerful force that God causes to emanate from himself to accomplish his holy will.—Ps. 104:30; 2Â Pet. 1:21; Acts 4:31.

John 3:15 I tell you the truth, unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but Spirit gives birth to spirit.
John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth
Acts 1:4 Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.
Powers of the Holy Spirit - read Jesus' ministry record. That's what is possible. Read also Acts of the Apostles showing the Church and the Holy Spirit at work.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, just like we have a spirit. The Holy Spirit is God and is all-powerful. Christians who have been baptized with the Holy Spirit receive the gifts of the Spirit which are the gift of healing, prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, speaking in other tounges, interpretation of tounges, working of miracles, and discerning of spirits.

To understand what the Bible has to say about God’s holy spirit we must first note the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek words translated “spirit,” namely, the Hebrew word ru′ahh and the Greek word pneu′ma. Both of these words have the meaning of “breath,” “blast” or “wind,” and are translated in various ways. The English word “pneumatic” comes from this Greek word pneu′ma, a pneumatic tire being a tire full of wind. While the term “Holy Ghost” occurs some ninety times in the King James and Douay versions, it is actually an Old English term, “ghost” being derived from the German word geist, meaning “spirit.” That is why the expression “Holy Ghost” does not appear in modern translations.
The term “spirit” is used in seven different ways in the Bible, and is applied both to persons and to impersonal things.
If the holy spirit is equal with God, as claimed by the Athanasian Creed, and if the trinity is the central teaching of the Christian religion, as claimed by The Catholic Encyclopedia, should we not expect these things to be plainly stated in so many words in the Bible? Daniel, Stephen and John in visions saw representations of the Father and the Son, but never one of the holy spirit. Why not, if the holy spirit is equal to the Father and the Son in glory, power, etc.?
The Holy Spirit is God’s active force, his energy when projected out from himself for the accomplishing of his purposes.

The Bible says that man is made in God's image. Just as man has a spirit, God has a Spirit. Someone here said that He is one of the Gods of the trinity. The Holy Spirit is no more a separate God than your spirit is a separate person. Your body, soul and spirit are one person together, and like so, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one God together. Since the Holy Spirit, the Father, and Jesus are all the same person (God), their power is the same - absolute and all powerful.

The doctrine of the Holy Trinity states there is one true God who is made up of three separate but equal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God, as the Holy Trinity, has always existed.
We know the least about the Holy Spirit. Most of what we know is through His (or Her) actions. He is never at rest. Symbols of the Holy Spirit are a flame and a flying dove.
"No one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." (1 Cor 2:11)
Now God's Spirit, who reveals God, makes known to us Christ, his Word, his living Utterance, but the Spirit does not speak of himself.
The Spirit who "has spoken through the prophets" makes us hear the Father's Word, but we do not hear the Spirit himself.
We know him only in the movement by which he reveals the Word to us and disposes us to welcome him in faith.
The Spirit of truth who "unveils" Christ to us "will not speak on his own." (John 16:13)
Such properly divine self-effacement explains why "the world cannot receive [him], because it neither sees him nor knows him," while those who believe in Christ know the Spirit because he dwells with them. (John 14:17)
With love in Christ.

On my way to church but would like to answer this when I get back.Good questions like this are hard to find.
The Holy Spirit has unlimited powers because it is sent of God at the request of His Son Jesus.Jesus told His disciples that He had many things to tell them but they could not bear to hear them. He said He must go away but that He would send the comforter and He would teach us all things.Without the Holy Spirit we would be as the world and without understanding as many here are.Had they known Him they would have been to afraid to have spoken as some of them did.Their lack of understanding makes them brave when really they should shake with fear and tremble.I have found the Holy Spirit to be a guide,a comforter,a Healer of body and soul,He gives me strength to go on when I am weak. For a long time I struggled with addictions but through the power of the Holy Ghost I was able to see how really ugly that all was. Now, I by His Spirit abhor those things. For such a long time I had a relationship with God because I had excepted Jesus (a must do) to get to the secound step.To be spiritual you have to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. It does not make you more saved, the blood of Jesus will do that. But to recieve the things that His disciples could not bear we need the Holy Ghost as did they.Peter denied Christ three times in one night out of fear. After recieving the Holy Ghost he stood up and preached a sermon in that same city and three thousand souls were added to the church. He later died a Martyrs death for Christ because he had been filled with the power from on high.

It is not a person but it is a powerful force that God causes to come from him to accompolish his holy will.
Acts 1:8 Says that the apostles received holy spirit they would be witnessing about him.
Acts 2:1-11 it caused them to speak in other languages instantly so others around them could hear and know what was being said.
HOly spirit was poured out on 120 disciples in this room.
So it couldn't be a person but a power.
Holy spirit was used to create the Universe and the earth.
