I'm tired of the stupidity. NASCAR isn't for rednecks. My family members have been NASCAR fans for a very long time, and look at us. Most of them are very successful computer programmers. The others are still very successful.

Then, there's me, of course. I am a die-hard NASCAR fan, and I'm going on to college to major in either music or English. And something tells me that my vocabulary is already far more refined than a lot of non-NASCAR fans could ever dream of. And guess what? I'm not even out of high school yet.

I don’t know about the rest of my fellow NASCAR fans, but I’m am getting tired of this typecast that we can’t speak proper English; that we sit at home with a beer can lodge in our hand as we screech and shoot off the shot gun.

If you are going to knock someone's English skills, please use correct grammar.

Umm...Edward, the Cart-track site states that for their race "The seating arrangement gives a total of 142,293 fans in the stands plus some 25,000 general admission three-day tickets" that's only about 40,000 shy....he was rounding. But the site also states that they were remodeling and the article is dated 2002. So when's the last time you worked there?

Edward...you are being a bit nitpicky now. That article was duplicated from the Champ Car World Series website http://www.champcarworldseries.com/News/Article.asp?ID=3624&Print=True which is the Official site for the American open-wheel racing series. I don't claim to be an open wheel follower, all I did was look up the numbers.

Neither can you, so you should be able to understand them perfectly. It's not nice to group them all together either. It's only a couple that are hard to understand. Many of the drivers, teams etc have graduated from some very reputable universities. Judging from your question however, you have not.

try that is an awful but FALSE! stereotype. half the people in NASCAR are from either California or Nevada. so quit looking at the stereotype that NASCAR is filled with Southerners. Ooh wow 3 guys from down south! By the way the language they use IS

Wow...what a sad, pathetic attempt at a diss of Nascar drivers. If you are going to attempt to diss the Nascar drivers' speaking skills, the least you could do is work on your English grammar and your writing skills.

With that said in mind, if you knew anything about Nascar you would know that a lot of the drivers come from all over the U.S.

You've got Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer who are from Missouri,
You've got Paul Menard & Matt Kenseth who are from Wisconsin,
You've got Dale Jr who is from North Carolina,
You've got Tony Stewart who is from Indiana
You've got Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch who are from Nevada
You've got Martin Truex Jr who is from New Jersey
You've got Kevin Harvick, Casey Mears, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Robby Gordon, David Gilliland who are all from California
You've got Kasey Kahne who is from Washington

And the list goes on and on and on. Every drivers "speaking kills" goes along with where they are from. Obviously, common sense tells us that we don't all speak English the same as it depends on what area of the U.S. you are from, and the same goes for Nascar drivers, people who work for Nascar and Nascar fans.

Also, a lot of us Nascar fans are not southern "rednecks" with no education, who sit around with a shot gun and a beer in their hands. A lot of us are well educated and work "high class" jobs. Alot of the fans of Nascar come from all over, we are very diverse.

So people...before you come into the Nascar section of Yahoo Answers and try to diss the sport that we Nascar fans love, please at least make an attempt to get your information correct.

u mean somethin like "well we run pretty good all day. we developed a little bit of a push early on in the race, made a pit stop and put some wedge in her and she ran like a spotted ape after that. but we did get in some trouble there in the middle of the race. ricky puked the motor and i got in his oil. had some good pit stops, especially that splash n go towards the end. but for the most part the burger king, pizza hut, kentucky fried chicken chevrolet, she just awesome" couldnt resist.....but seriously, i think someone needs to go back to the 1st grade and learn how to spell. and drop the stereotypical BS. they speak english....

Yeah, maybe when YOU learn english, they'll get the hint also.

And when there going around at over 200, I'm pretty sure proper english isn't on top of their list.

I can listen to Kasey's radio and understand everything they are saying. Jr's radio is funny to listen to because him and his crew chief joke around a bunch.

I completely understand what your asking, its just that us Southerners can at least spell. And by the way, over 82% of the driver's aren't really from the South. GO FIGURE!!!:)

Just because we have accents does not mean you have the right or the authority to make fun of the South. What if we made fun of you yankee no class think your funny people. Oh wait I just did. I never have any trouble understanding what they are saying.
