I have a natural long, wavy hair and i need to straighten it everytime i am going to see my boyfriend. (Of course, every girl doesn't want to look less than perfect when meeting their guy)

Anyway, as part of my change one thing policy...i am considering a new hairstyle.
I have jet black hair, an oval or round-shape face,almond-shaped eyes and have a not-so-tannish complexion as i am asian.
Can anyone here suggest me what kind of hairstyle would suit me as well as a haircolor.
A hairstylist will be helpful to answer my questions.

Thanks a lot!

i am not a hairstylist by profession but have fixed a lot of hair to help around in events. i am also asian and have black hair. i also have a boyfriend. yes it wouldn't hurt to get a little fixed up for your boyfriend but sooner or later he is bound to see you with a "just woke up crappy do"...what i would suggest is probably get the cut styled. maybe adding a little fringe and bangs to the front as well as layers. not the really exaggerated type but more of soft layers so that even if you dont have any hair color your do will still have character. the layers will accentuate your features. if you want to get your hair colored i suggest something that is more of a warm brown tone maybe with some natural looking highlights in honey...you can skip the perm or permanent straightening. thats the best advice i can give. you'll never know when your mood demands to have curly hair or straight hair, having chemically styled hair will make it harder to do and will damage it more. i suggest setting your hair at night after shampooing in extra large velcro curlers. towel dry until damp, add some mousse and part each section into the curlers. sleep on it. when you wake up let the hair down. it will not be super straight but a little bouncy and it will not have its usual multiple waves in different directions. it will save time over ironing your hair which is damaging too.

Short and Layered, not the back layered, but the sides only. And short as in up to your shoulder. You should ask your boyfriend what he would prefer.
