I had a test two years ago when I found out that my husband was sexually active with possibly both men and woman during our marriage. If I find a steady partner, can I be sure that my partner is safe?

Usually 6 months after you have been exposed the test will show positive. So 6 months after your last sexual encounter with your husband you can trust any test results. As long as you haven't been in any high risk behavior since then.

The HIV virus is prevelent in most 3 months after the questionable acts. If that comes back negative and you are still worried about, most follow up with a 6 month test and then its 98% accurate or so. Good luck.

Get a test on the third month of the last exposure. If it is negative, it is comforting. Get another one six months after that. If it is negative too, you can consider you did not get HIV from your husband. You would be HIV negative until you get some other reason not to be.
