Yes, for several reasons...

1) Ellipticals require that you support your weight during the workout;
2) Most ellipticals offer a pretty good upper body workout if you actually "push and pull" the handles instead of just letting your arms go for a ride;
3) The "travel" on an elliptical is greater and exercises your muscles more;
4) You can pedal an elliptical backwards and isolate an entirely different set of muscles.

Don't get one of those $199 ellipticals... you'll need to spend at least $300 for an OK model

In my opinion.

Its better JOGGING/brisk walking rather than using exercise equipment.
