I've never had this problem, but for the past few months i've off an on tried to figure it out on my own. I've tried everything from the windows main page, to windows help, even asking my friends, no one can help me. I've done audio tests and everything, but the sound recorder wont record, nothing. When i talk into the mic i can hear myself but the computer wont recognize the sound to record it. I've tried every plug in the computer and even changed all of my settings. No one can hear me in voice chats either. Please and thank you for any help you can give me.

Open Audio Properties from Edit menu of sound recorder...in that try changing the default device for sound recording..it should work out...even if that that does not work out for you...go to
Right Click My Computer/Select Hardware/Device Manager/Select Audio Devices and uninstall your Device Driver for audio..
Then reboot and it should work out...
