The best invention for traveling with kids has been the Playskool Video Now Jr (at least in my opinion)! It is a portable TV that plays preschool videos - sold separately. We've had trouble finding the preschool videos in the stores, but they are available at Playskool.com. Or perhaps even Ebay!
We travel a lot by car and this little TV keeps my son content for hours. It's his own television that he can hold, and it's all his favorite cartoons or shows (Wiggles, Bob the Builder, Barney, Clifford, etc.) so I don't have to worry about "what" he is watching.
We will be flying to Florida in October, and I will certainly be packing this along with extra batteries so that we can keep him occupied on the flight!

I have a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old and we travel frequently.
First of all, get ready to have to entertain your 2 year old for pretty much the entire flight! Bring any books she likes to have read to her; bring one or two small stuffed animals or dolls (not too many and nothing too small, because she's going to drop them on the floor at least once and you don't want to have to go crawling underneath airplane seats to find Barbie's pink shoe or something!)
Bring whatever portable snacks she likes - things like baby carrots or some reasonably healthy crackers are good because they're not too messy and won't give your child a blood-sugar spike. Also bring an empty sippy-cup (they won't let you bring liquids through security, but they should be happy to provide you with bottled water or some juice on the plane).
Try to interact with your little one as much as possible to keep her happy and help pass the time. You can try playing guessing games, like, "I'm thinking of an animal that lives on a farm and says 'Mooooo!'"
Like I said, be prepared to have to entertain her for the entire flight, but she may be comfortable and happy just sitting by you and playing with one or two toys for a while. She may even surprise you and fall asleep!
Best of luck, and don't psych yourself out worrying. She's going to do great!

I like to buy some small new toys/books and pack them away for the trip.....don't let her see them. Also, bring a good, slow-to-eat snack. Just let her explore her seat area...when she gets antsy....pop out one of the new toys she has not seen.....when that wears off, snack, then later another new toy or story. The dollar store should be a good place to just grab some stuff...if it's all new to her it will hold her attention longer. Crayons and coloring book are good, also the mini-containers of playdoh to use 1 at a time on the tray. I never let my kids walk the aisles...once they see that's an option, they carry on and don't want to sit.

ok. both have her bottle or sippie cup reachable and a liquid she likes in it for the take off and landing. The cabin stress can make their ears pop and damage. in the journey that they have something to drink it truly can help you. If she has her own seat it is going to truly help to have her vehicle seat. Mine continuously then felt it became like a vehicle journey and were a lot more suitable positive. I also had snacks, (and any of those) board books, toys (yet no longer something too small which could wander off lower than the seat or roll away), a magna doodle became marvelous to attraction to pictures with, a cd participant with earphones with their famous music, you could also get a conveyable dvd participant with video clips to observe. For you, you are able to flow to a movie, wash the carpets (I in no way look to discover time to attempt this once they are the following), %. away previous outfits of hers that she has outgrown, placed up toys that she would not play with anymore, or artwork on both scrapbooking or putting her pictures into albums. reliable luck.

Also LittleTouch LeapPad: Pink is geat fun + gets her learning (itz for 1yr - 3yrs)

Bring her color books with crayons(but don't give her all of them or the plane might be colorful once u get off of it lol). Or the little doodle thing that you write on with the "magnetic pen". Also story books, maybe a baby doll if she likes babydolls. Hmm...I'm not sure what she likes. Bring her some little snacks to snack on to keep her content, and her juice or w/e u give her. I don't know what else-since I personally don't know your daughter.

What about her own music player? OR a portable dvd player? I know people don't like their kids to watch too much television, but sometimes - for peace of mind - it's worth it.

It's really hard to travel with children especially toddlers. I think you will know best what is entertaining with your 2 yr. old. What does she likes to do most? Bring it with you for she will feel comfortable.
