If you live in a state where there isnt that many asain men ( pittsburgh) how would you even go about approaching them or getting them to talk to you if there so shy and not outgoing.

Well, you could smile and approach them, and ask them about their day. It would be a huge compliment if you ask him if he was single.

Darling don,t be fooled by that, shy and reserved rubbish, it is all a front.
I am in India right now, they are no different from white guys.
Here in Indian there are lots married gay Indian guys, with children, and living like normal family's. They party like any one else. cheat, scheme, two time,drink, smoke,drugs, no difference.
Most Indian live in this prentence world where they make their family's think that they are angels. here in India girls have boy friends and the guys same. Asian girls and guys are like Dark and light, it depends on what side of the rotation you catch.
Just approach him like any other guy, let him know what you want. Be carefully about long term commitment's though. You will find he will end up having an arranged marriage in the end. This is a classic case amongst Asian boys and girls, when dating none Asians. It can still out work, i am married to an Asian.
Just remove that India rope trick and all will be clear

Well, don't be so stereotypical. Not all Asian guys are quiet and reserved, and a lot are actually the opposite. Approach them with confidence and openness like you would any other guy and just try and get to know them. Good luck! :-)

I'm an asian and yeah, we aren't so outgoing when compared to you guys. But if you approach us we're still really friendly and nice to talk to =D
You might want to think of some topics to talk about before approaching the guy. "Hey, where did you come from" might be lame, but hey, if it works, being lame doesn't matter. Especially since this question can branch into many others like "How's -country- different from here?", "How do you find pittsburgh", etc.

Being a half-asian girl, it's always nice when a guy i know smiles and says hello to me. Try finding something you have in common with the guy, then start talking to him about it, see his opinions on it. OR, if he is reading a book or a magazine, ask him what it is and if it's interesting.

being a half asian guy, i think i understand ur situation, though i am loud and outgoing, i live in an asian country and hav loadz of friends that are quiet and shy... i think the best way to approach an asian guy is to show modesty in ur character, showing them that ur not the typical loud type.. therefore he would see a connection , and sooner open up or react to conversations etc... u need to start first, getting him to feel comfortabe, and sooner or later, he might not be of any difference than urself... :)

I guess show an interest in what they normally do. My friend's bf is asian and she was only able to get when she was interested in what he did.

He may be Asian but he lives in the states..american*..if he's shy and not outgoing ...what do you see in him.? If you really want to get to know him better..you're going to have to do all the work and will realize in the long run, it wasn't worth it.
