hi i am rebulding my home speackers and there are whats called varible level controls for the tweeter and mid range speacker i want to disconnect them bechuse the speckers im hooking up are more watss and the controls dont even work right. can i dis connect them and have them run without the controls i tryed it and its just like u where to put the control up on high so what should i do i dont want to mess anything up but i want the controls out the 12 in sub woofer is just connected with out controls

Yes, you can safely disconnect them, provided there's no other components (such as an electolytic, which looks like a little can with wires connected to either end.)
These controls are passive: they cut the sound by bypassing some of the output through a parallel resistor. When you set the control to maximum, you are effectively bypassing this resistor.
If you do have an electolytic connected to the control, make sure you solder this in series to the speaker: this component prevents the bass notes from damaging your tweeters, as well as trimming the sound.

If they are the problem then go for it. If not keep them in line. Sometimes a cleaner/degreaser is all they need.
