People can not accept that they are wrong or have been wrong in the beliefs of so many years. They get mad and describe whoever they don't believe as being crazy. The bible says that the public described Jesus and his followers as being drunk and crazy. They , also, hated him, even though he had never done anything to affect the public other than preaching his beliefs. Yet, they found it alright to try to KILL him.
Jesus said that "if they hated me, then they will hate YOU". The same thing applies to today's public......i.e. if they thought Jesus was crazy, then you can bet they will think a true believer or discoverer of the truth to be crazy.
There was a follower named Thomas, and he preached against a certain people and they became outraged because he was preaching against their beliefs. They stoned him. Then, he said that he was seeing Heaven opening up to accept him. They became even more outraged because he was preaching something that the public believed to be crazy and a fairy tale.

Racism is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture.
People can also experience prejudice because of their religion or nationality.
Racism takes many different forms. These can include:
Personal attacks of any kind, including violence
Written or verbal threats or insults
Damage to property, including graffiti
Why are people racist?
Unfortunately racism can exist in all races and cultures. Racists feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race or culture.
We are not born racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable.
Prejudice of any kind is often based on ignorance and fear of anything unfamiliar.

You have to understand one thing, many people are raised on specific belief systems much like yourself. And when you say something that does not agree with a persons beliefs it will either enlighten them or offend them. The truth is it's human nature to fear what you don't understand. You can't expect everyone to get what you're talking about, however, you only need one person to listen and understand.
I don't know what you were specifically talking about, but I hope this helped.
Good luck !

Because it makes the ricketty piles of thought boxes in their heads wobble when the NEW thing scratches its way into the ear and stomps up into the dusty old brain. And always one or two of the piles falls over clunking to the damp gooey floor of the brain which not only hurts it makes an icky sloshing noise.

Unfortunately, most humans do not want to even acknowledge the fact that they don't know everything about everything. Pride can be very destructive at times. For the person who knows what they really believe, hearing something else is not damaging.

I see what you see, it has baffled me some.
People will sit in school, learn, study, read....but if they are not in school, and you try to teach something new, they get defensive, rude and at times resort to name calling or just plainly ignore the person.
Did they do this when in school? So why when not in school? For is not learning, the key to knowledge? And is not knowledge the key to wisdom?
To accept something new means change.....and many dislike change even though life is nothing but change.

B/c no one wants to believe that everything they learned was false. This is esp true in matters of the church, that was the one thing everyone could turn to and to hear anything different scares them.
