If you saw someone jump off a building to their death, would you do it? Our personality and our enviornment are not responsible for the decisions we make. Your personality and enviornment have nothing to do with choice. Free will is choice. If your analogy was correct, no one could ever change their cirumstances. A boy from a poor neighborhood and an abusive father could never become the greatest ball player in history, the leader of a country, a great humanatarian or anything else he was not "pre programed" to believe he could accomplish. Do you blame your parents and your enviornment for the choices you have made that messed up your life? I work in a prison and I seldom hear that argument from the inmates. They at least can admit that they made their own choices. Stop trying to pass the buck.

Sure, biological and environmental factors determine every thought you have and every decision you make. But that doesn't mean we don't have free will, it just means that in any specific situation we will always make the same choice. Right now I have a choice to submit or not submit this answer. My choice will be based on biological and environmental factors, and if someone had a powerful enough computer they could run a simulation and find out what choice I will make before I make it. But I still have a choice.
Basically it depends entirely on how you define free will.

Today's society says that people's problems aren't their own fault anymore...It's the economy, or genetics, or my family sucks or even being a jerk runs in our family.
Every person is responsible for their actions...I used to be clinically insane...And I know exactly how I got there...It happened over many years of making the WRONG choices and giving in and taking the the EASY way out of situations and NOT DEALING with problems as they appeared.
Obviously, some folks truly can't help it...But the term "illness" is being used too loosely these days...If you're a jerk, you "can't help it" it's an "illness"...A good ************ ALWAYS straightened me out.

So you just let yourself off the hook for every wrong thing you do. For instance, you had no choice in adding the second two questions onto your first question, that was dictated by circumstance?

You immediately condemn anyone whoo disagrees with you. Would you say that it open-minded or free-willed?

It is your choice, therefore freewill, whether or not your environment will control you or you will control it.
