Dog catchers in the UK are usually referred to as Dog Wardens and are employed by the environmental department of the Local Authority.

They usually have other duties such as vermin control which includes dealing with rat, mice and wasp infestations.

They spend a good deal of their time educating the public.

I don't know exactly what skills they need but I suspect that there is more to the job than running around after stray dogs with a long pole with a loop in the end.

No qualifications needed just common sense, You need to be able to drive

There is a training course for this through the local council and dog warden, I went walking my dog with the Dog Warden of our town last week as I have known him vaguely for years, I asked him about my daughter doing work experience with him. Which he says he has done many times and will be happy to do for her.

Check out your councils website, then search for dog warden, our councils site gives an email address direct to the dog warden.
